Here’s my take on the next couple of months.
The way things are accelerating the naysayers here are going to be proved very very wrong, London is the epicentre as one might expect from the hole so expect the M25 mostly to be the border, no one in no one out except for key industries and deliveries, eg foodstuffs medical equipment and coffins mainly.
They’ll have to lock London down to keep a hold on things, i suspect those with second homes in the country have already moved out and those with caravans will get out too.
The police, who you might notice are missing are probably being brought up to speed to handle this blockade, the army may be used as back up for them but will be there mainly to deal with the inevitable looters who will come out when it gets a bit warmer to do their thing, no way is the present govt going to allow them a free run like they did a few years ago when the old bill stood back as instructed and let them run riot, be interesting to see just how tough they are with their knives and machetes when they’re no longer bullying and plundering the weak and defenceless but find a line of properly armed current and re-enlisted squaddies in their way with rules to do whatever necessary to maintain order.
Long term this country will never be the same again.

To be fair he was obviously not thinking in terms of Chinese weaponised biotech as I was and then misunderstood what I meant, about facing the resulting rabid Tiger, deliberately shipped to a western zoo or circus, without having a gun to hand.At which point, assuming it’s a good enough gun, it won’t make any difference if the Tiger is scared of it or not.

How many of those that barely survive after months in ICU and herculean efforts from medical staff are going to die anyway by the end of the year?
What state are they going to be in? Are they going to be able to look after themselves? Will they require continued treatment afterwards?
What are the consequences of cancelling all planned surgeries and many outpatients? How many of them will worsen and require a more serious/dangerous intervention at a later stage? How many of them will go on to develop a disability as a result of delayed treatment? I ain’t no doctor but postponing a surgery by 3 months when some will have already waited for 4-5-6 months by now doesn’t sound like a good idea to me. How many are waiting for those ‘routine’ surgeries so they can get it over with and go back to work/their normal life?
How many are dying WITH the CV in them but not necessarily from CV causes?
Doctors are doctors, they ring the bells because it’s what they do - they fight for lives, they try their best to save lives - it’s what they’ve trained to do, sworn to do and will do whatever it takes even if it means exposing their own lives/families to danger.
At first we were told only the very elderly and those with serious/very serious conditions are somewhat likely to die, now we’re being told young people are likely to die too - so ‘stay at home, eveyone’; why are Asian nations able to test in large numbers but test kits/equipment (idk how it works to be honest) are virtually non-existent in the EU/UK/US?
If a vaccine is 12-18 months away, and that’s just for the ‘prototype’ as I understand it, are we realistically expecting to have 7-8 billion vaccines manufactured, shipped and administered in our lifetime? What if/when this thing mutates like the ‘regular’ flu virus?
Ultimately, how much is this ‘bring the world to a standstill for an unspecified length of time’ exercise going to cost in terms of money, economic growth (or rather stagnation), psychological distress, increased poverty, crime and unemployment, reduced quality of education and medical care, collateral damage from (governemnt mandated) medical neglect towards non-covid patients?
