Are you concerned/bothered about the corona virus?

Common sense at last, Tesco in Dublin has deemed it now safe to sit in your cab while being tipped, the magical powers of covid 19 renders tacho rules irrelevant and now dishes out a dose of common sense

Unlike Reading. I was in there earlier, 3 hour tipping time, 25+ drivers huddled into that crappy little room, some old boy coughing like he was turning his lungs inside out, air conditioning unit circulating all that shared air, drivers readily smearing their fingers all over the key deposit screen, and 2 tiny packets of hand wipes that drivers are invited to use (but only 1 wipe per driver). I felt ill from just looking at the place. The sooner we can just sit in our cabs the better.

When guys dressed in bio suits are going around my town with a hand cart ringing a bell, and shouting ‘‘Bring out your dead’’ then I’ll join the mass hysteria.that every ■■■■ else is joining in with.
Until then I’ll be careful as I can, (but won’t let it rule or change my lifestyle) , and accept that I may get a case of flu like symptoms and feel like crap for a few days, and being that I have no underlying health problems with breathing etc, I’ll more than likely get through it.
Let’s keep things in perspective ffs. :unamused:

And the only reason matey’s local Asda is empty is because the idiots rule the roost.
It was on tv the other day, a reporter asked this silly cow why her trolley was full of bog rolls, her answer?..‘‘Because everybody else is doing it’’ :unamused:

The same time as the stinking Chinese so called commies formed an alliance with Justin Trudeau to overturn that traitor to the independent state of Texicana Trump which considering he says he supports oil but is really a closet greenie water melon pink on the inside doesn’t look good for the Sudenten Germans. You couldn’t make it up.

Ooh, that Fourth Reich mob . . . rascals, every last pesky one of them.

I actually quite liked Boris’ press conference the other day. Calm, to the point and with explanations as to why the decisions have been made. Cue the bloody press slagging him off for not panicking! What do they want him to do? Run around in circles screaming “we’re all going to diiieeeee”!

The simple fact is that a lot of people are going to get ill. Some not so serious, some serious and, sadly, a few will die. But theres nothing at all that can be done to prevent that. All he can do is try and reduce the pressure on our health service. The country still has to function and it can’t do that if everyone shuts themselves away for 6 months.

That makes, em, two of us.
If the panic in the supermarkets wasn’t so sad it would be hilarious.

Im not concerned about it, bit of mass Hysteria keeps the sheep in a state of fear and the coffers of big pharma and toilet roll companies topped up

What I have noticed , my collegues as well, the roads are empty.

I went up the A483 yesterday and was passed by another vehicle for large periods of time. My colleague went downnthe M6 and didnt hit any traffic congestion. I would put that down to office workers now working from home.

When I got back the yard, depot manager handed me a box of tissues, box of hand wipes, hand sanitizer bottle and a plastic bag to put all the waste in. Even he saw the ridiculousness of it by labeling it “Spaff Fodder”

Wife went on weekly shop yesterday as she always does, shelves empty, saved herself a fortune
We ain’t doomed yet,I’m still trunking loads of beer all over country, people are still going to pub in true British fashion when that slows down I’ll start panicking

I’m getting several emails from the supermarkets regarding their implementation of a stricter online shopping delivery policy

Dear Customer,
Everyone’s safety is our top concern.
Following the recommendations related to COVID-19, we inform you that as of March 14th, home deliveries will start to be carried out at your doorstep, and not inside, as usual.
For all home deliveries, Drive or in-store pickups, we will limit payments upon delivery, making only online payment available on the website or the App.
In view of the increase in demand over the past few days, and as a way to streamline the preparation of orders, we have also implemented a temporary procedure for automatic replacement of products in case of unavailability. Please check them at the time of delivery and if you do not agree with any replacement, return them to our employee.
We continue to work to provide you with the best service and hope to continue to live up to your expectations.
Thank you for understanding.

I’m hoping it’ll increase the driver shortage to atleast 100k by April, hopefully give me a chance to capitalise on the jobs market, maybe even actually ■■■■ GET ONE [emoji16]

So if anyone wants to snuff it… (EAST of the Anglia region only, shove London up ya arse, as I know I’ll be able too be picky)… Pm me an I’ll send you some bog roll as thanks, terms an conditions do apply though…

On the subject of “Mass Hysteria” - let’s look at what people get mis-directed from…

(1) Which remainers are now worried about Brexit? Which Leavers are worried that we’re not fully out as yet?

(2) Who’s lost their job recently, or worried they are about to lose their job? You’ll worry less, and accept that you’re gonna be staying at home a lot more in the near future, but now “without complaint” or any chance of switching your vote away from Tory to Labour anytime soon…

(3) Opposition attempts to bring down the government via “Extinction Rebellion” style “Demos” causing disruption and criminal damage - are now effectively banned via the “public gathering” restrictions…

(4) Trump has now got his travel ban though - by that same backdoor.

(5) Less people will be bothering the NHS facilities with meaningless ailments. Hypocondriacs who persist in attending - will quickly find that the NHS waiting room - is the very best VENUE to meet some random “patient one” that likely exists anywhere… The result? - “Less Hypochondiacs”…

(6) Background “natural deaths and causes of same” - I suspect are the same as normal. It is merely the reporting of such natural deaths - that has changed.

(7) The only “epidemic” that most people get to see - is this strange illness that seems to be making people crap themselves an awful lot. Lots of toilet rolls purchased, but a whole lot less food. If people were being sensible - they would save money on their big shop - by not buying much food at all, whilst they feel a bit under the weather… I remember giving up smoking when I got Bronchitus years ago… There are advantages that can be taken from ANY disruptions to normal lifestyles, if you think about it, and look for them…

(8) We’re three out of four on “Horsemen of the Apocalypse” of the Civilized world… War, Economic Collapse, Pestilence… FAMINE is next, if we’re not careful. With the price of food, in particular meat collapsing on the wholesale markets around the world - we might like to consider dropping these silly notions of “let’s all give up meat eating today”… Well what happens chumps - if there’s not enough Fruit and Veg to go around for any reason - but a glut of cheap meat? Are you SURE it is a good idea becoming a Veggie at this time? Are you SURE it is worth listening to Extiction Rebellion right now - telling you that you should “not have kids”, and then “starve yourself to death” in the name of polluting the planet with your fossil-fuel burning Crematorium gweenhouth gathes thus produced by your untimely death, and preferred “officially majority chosen” method of self-disposal?

(9) Less traffic on our roads - means a whole lot less road deaths in the coming year. With that number of annual road deaths being around the mean 3500 level - if the final death toll attributed to CoronaVirus in this country is less than 3500 say, - the population will expand faster rather than slow down from a perceived net increase in overall death rate vs an actual net decrease eh?

(10) No changes.

At least when CJD or mad cow disease was the trend, the cynical amongst us could buy cheap steak, you can’t even capitalise on a cheap holiday with this [zb] thing, becausec they’re banning and cancelling flights to certain destinations, I was looking forward to my all inclusive at cut rate, I even had my mask sorted.
No perks at all with this. :unamused:

you could always buy my ■■■■ themed hitlers revenge vw campervan and join me on your own blitzkrieg through europe this summer.
( actually i just sold it,but you get the drift).

I have been told that the real version of this photo - has Corbyn fist-bumping the old dear… Not ever seen that version though…

Corbyn Up Yours.jpg
Her face does look a bit on the aggressive side for such “fist-bumping”, not to mention Corbyn’s stance appearing to be that of a person who genuinely doesn’t know what reception to expect as the door is opened…

The question I’d like to ask of such “opportunistic photos” - is “Who took the original photo” - rather than “what it was originally supposed to depict”…
What with Meme-ing now being the norm - Now is the time to ask more of the Photographer - isn’t it?
The Genie is well and truly out of the bottle - with regards to all this bull over “enforcable copyright” already…
There’s only “Getting a message out” now. Any message. Doesn’t even have to be truth or fiction.
Man does not live by bread alone - we need our flights of fancy as much as we need hard facts - at all times.

I like that post and agree with most of it however of course there is something that can be done. No it won’t go away anytime soon but people can help to prevent it spreading.
There are 3 groups, the panickers, the “who cares brigade” and it seems like a few calm and collected people that follow simple instructions.

The panickers go rushing off and empty shelves which stops others who may require goods for the vulnerable.

The “who cares brigade” carry on as normal and are not prepared to make any changes to their lifestyle therefore increasing the chance of spread.

And the minority who stay calm and listen to sound advice and try to help the situation.

As a matter of interest, anybody read about this subject on any other forums? I won’t say anymore but the variations are eye opening.

Another view of Johnsons position, and a possible reason for his action/inaction? [edition.cnn.com/2020/03/14/uk/c ... index.html](https://edition.cnn.com/2020/03/14/uk/coronavirus-boris-johnson-brexit-intl-gbr/index.html) . If steps are taken to slow the spread of the virus, then some pressure will be off the NHS. Lowering and spreading out the peak will save lives. We can do this. We have a limited number of Intensive Care beds (wont argue here about how many) and spreading the peak can do this.
It is not just the 1% who die that is the problem, it is also the 10%(?) who survive, but need IC to do so. Strain on the system means the postponement of non urgent procedures, some of which will become urgent later.
People will die, but saying none of it is down to Government choices is totally wrong. Allowing a quick rise will result in an earlier and higher peak in case numbers, and so more will be outside the number of care places, and hence more deaths.

Err, I’m not saying what you and I should start doing or not doing, I’m just sharing my observation of what’s happening. Obviously all health experts agree it’s far from the end of the world so there’s that. But the damage has already been done - people are panicked and that panic/fear is only going to spread further. Sadly history shows crowd mentality is a thing and it’s not any different this time. When you go to the store and for the fifth time in a row there’s no toilet paper and yours at home is running out, you’d probably buy more than you normally would at the next opportunity because next time it could be 10 visits until you find it in stock etc.

Right now I’m thinking it’s still a small number of people buying very large quantities of ‘supplies’ but wait until everyone figures out that empty shelves are going to be here for a while and starts hoarding themselves to beat the hoarders. Prices are going to go up as well unless dear Gov’t steps in to impose price control which is going to lead to severe shortages as has happened every single time in the history of the world.

Errrr…I didn’t say you were.

Well that’s my time in self isolation up. I’m allowed to mix with the public again

It’s been quite nice just being tucked away at home. Not so much fun for my seven year old son though.

Can I ask if you were ever tested?
So, do you know you have had, and recovered from it, and cant catch it again nor pass it on?
Or, are you still as vulnerable as everyone else?
