Hi - I work in TV development and am currently looking into the area of truck restorations. I ideally need to find a family run business (or any business) where they are passionate about and actively performing truck restorations.
I need someone who is adept at sourcing the unusual and unique in the trucking world, they need to know the ins and outs of a trucks mechanisms like the back of their hand, be able to barter to get an amazing deal and have the vision and ability to create visually stunning restorations. Their expertise could even extend to plant machinery/diggers or tractors. This would potentially be for an on camera role but at the moment the project is being developed.
If you know of anyone can you please send them my way asap
Interesting idea, but the only part that fits the glamorous bill is the finished article, whenever that will be. The rest is just hard slog, frustration, muck and loads and loads of patience. There won’t be any ‘it’s got to be finished for the shooting deadline’ either.
Hopefully that rather self important TT rider won’t be involved, he’s been turned down for one similar project.
You couldn’t make a proper restoration into a TV show - it takes too long to get it right.
I’m not referring to ‘cheque-book’ restorations; I’m talking about proper ones. I won’t go further, as the last time this happened a 5-month serialisation was the result and it caused more bad press than good.
I like programmes about restorations,a long a you see the nuts and bolts f it ,ie gearbox overhaul ,not just glossed over …and I like watching others work
Personally, I would like to see such a programme on TV. Yes it would probably take a long time to film and there would be some TV hipe in there, but it’s got to be better than some of the other reality trash on there at the moment.
We all moan that our hobby is not being taken up by the young, or the pressures of keeping to updated legislation - so what better opportunity to get the message out there that we are saving a part of this country’s industrial heritage.
Ok, rant over.

He hasn’t got the time for it, cav, although he does have the required dirty fingers!

Try K & R Walsh Bros based at Ashton u Lyne Lancs.
thanks will do
it’s very much a show that wants to focus on nuts, bolts, sourcing and the restoration side of things - so please do send any more ideas my way
thanks
Sarah
Hi, Sarah,
As mentioned before, this project, unlike many private car restorations, is likely to be a seriously long term project. Unless, of course, your company or it’s sponsors would be willing to throw wheelbarrowfuls of cash at it!

Leo Bol in the Netherlands is one of the better one I have seen to date. Ongoing thorough restorations just booked in and done correctly. Check out his website. www.leobol.nl
