Are you a thief?

Do you, like me object to opening your rear doors when leaving an RDC or wherever to prove that you’re NOT a thief?

I think the law of the land states that you are innocent until proven guilty, so why are we judged differently :unamused:

It’s a long time since I was asked to open the doors for security, but no I didn’t mind at all, the security are just doing their job, I’m sure you’re not a thief but plenty of people are, so blame them.

I don’t mind opening the back doors at all…all the swag I’ve nicked is in the cab anyway!

^ That’s a joke OK?!

I’m in the minority then  We all know that all the stuff nicked from ABC Plc goes through the gate in an ABC Plc lorry with a seal on the back, which is right under the noses of security.

I don’t have a problem with the process of opening the doors & I have nothing to hide, it’s the view of the decision makers that gets on my man ■■■■■, stuffs going awol, it must be the visiting drivers, perhaps I picked the wrong phrase :open_mouth:

I put it down to part of our job, something you just get used to I suppose there just doing their job the same as we do

A new security bloke started at a place I used to work, this new security bloke decided to start doing cab searches, no problem there except that he wasn’t allowed to search drivers personal belongings, I wonder how much stuff went out in peoples bags

Seemed like a waste of time to me but it kept him happy :unamused:

When i worked a Panasonic, security used to check our own personal bags as well at the end of shift :unamused:

i don’t mind them opening the back doors to check. so long as it’s them and not me, nothing to hide apart from the other half.

I used to feel like this too. One day at Tescos, Chepstow i went off on one on one of the guards who asked me could i open the doors so he could look in the back!!! Big mistake. He said i couldn’t give two ■■■■■ what ison your trailer but i have cctv watching me to make sure i check, so i check !! OK? I said ‘point taken , fair enough !!’

Years ago, I did a quite bit of agency work for Next. Whilst loading at South Emsall, 2 warehouse dudes asked me to “smuggle” some gear out for them.

I told them to get stuffed (actually my language was quite a bit stronger than that!) then I reported it to my boss back at the yard. Apart from anything else, I actually thought it may be a test of my own integrity.

I still believe that the vast majority of Truck drivers are hard working, honest people. Shoot me down if you think I’m wrong.

what on a car transporter?

this new security bloke decided to start doing cab searches

And I’m sure they have no right to do that, unless a Polis officer is available.

Ken.

they get round that by entering into a contract with visitors to the site…by entering you agree to submiting to a cab search, if not you don’t get in

This was at a place where I worked through an agency, it was there own vehicles that the security started doing cab searches on.

The yard I work out of everything is checked before it goes out the gate
