It’ll be a combination of things. Reliability, economy, after sales/fleet support and cost
Volvo pricing themselves out of the market, some other makes either having ■■■■ poor service centres and/or the product is so bloody troubled that it spends too much of its working life in the sodding workshops.
Scania and now MAN (who have upped their game) seem to be doing things very right.

Considering scania and man are owned by the same concern they “should” be very similar in how they do things.

We’ve had a couple of recurrent faults (electric gremlins) one involving a suspended tow with our new Scannies. When one was off the road for a few days the dealer bought around an old unit with a greasy mattress for our driver. He looked inside, then called the manager down.
Not happy at all!
I’m not saying that’s typical at all, but they certainly aren’t perfect. Neither trucks or dealers.

I thought the same when the Actros appeared on the scene. It seemed every company was getting them.
Itll peter off when whatever great deal theyre offering ends
its the same as the supermarkets,it dont matter how much they make on the sale of petrol or a tin of beans, most of the target is that the competition dont get the sale.
they can turn it fr £100 profit, then make more in aftersales, service, parts and the fact the truck passing you says scania and not volvo.
