Are things getting better?

last week i got 2 fone calls , offering me work one of them was a large company company but im happy where i am. is this a sighn off better times ahead .and i live near hull which has been hit hard with the recesion… :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Well…

I would say yes, there are green shoots, BUT and its a BIG but, it aint gonna be a quick recovery…

I have been offered a job which I start a week on Monday, also been told I have first refusal on a Co that I have ben doing agency work for as soon as a opening comes up there in case im not happy on the Mixers.

The problems I can see, that as soon as things pick up, in will come the fuel price rises, Co’s wont reinstate the 10% etc pay cuts that they needed to ‘avoid redundencys’ There will be a major walk out in the industry as peed off drivers start to look for the greener grass.

But its a start…

Oh dear still on pre mod, how sad.

tell you what coddy,i think you just hit the nail on the head!

I had a phone call from Driverhire last week about an agency job.

I have never worked through an agency and would rather not start now. However a call asking me to go for a driving assessment (unpaid) over 7 months after filling in an application online. I declined their kind offer :unamused:

i think it is definately getting better but we are in the very early days of a recovery so things could still go down as well as up.
when the eccomony is finally back to normal every company will have drivers desperate to find greener grass so hopefully pay will increase to stop people leaving.

Parts of the UK are picking up but it certainly is not nationwide - yet (Optomistic mode)

lets see are there picking up well take this week applied for 7 jobs so far no joy all gone by time i have applied or thanks but no thanks

agency up here are back on the phone twice a week … lookin for shifts to be covered … mostly all weekend stuff…

most of the job centre jobs are still agency no proper jobs so not much of a recovery really.
