Are some drivers blind (or at least not got much e

Iwas slowly crawling up the M42/A42 this morning about 0430, hauling a 9ft3ins wide plant room on a lowloader. The trailier had yuellow rotating beacons to rear, and at the max width points I had got LED lights and reflaective tape to show how wide I was.

So I was rather surprised to have a BMW hit the rear corner of the load, and rip out all the passenger side of the car,

Ah well one less Beemer - I hear you say!!

But the driver of the car then accused me of being too wide for the carriageway, and the Plod which attended seemed to agree.

Anyone else having the same happen to them?

Ed

So he/she hit the back corner of the load…clearly driving without due course and attention.

your only a foot wider than a normal artic, im guessing pc plod were in a panda car?

So youv’e got those rotating beacons on the rear destroying everybody’s eyesight and someone then crashes into you,I trust you will be giving him a new Beamer
for his trouble.

maybe you should have driven a bit closer to the hard shoulder
or even taken up 6 inches of the hard shoulder

Both seem to be idiots. How can you be too wide for a 12 ft motorway lane at 9ft 3in?

Erm, is it not illegal to drive on hard shoulder ■■? maybe the driver should of had a ■■■■■■ vehicle with him in lane 2 … but that would be to easy huh!

Couldn’t you’ve just shown him the movement order?
Or is that the problem?

Hang on. Instead of telling the OP what he should have done, how about stating the bleeding obvious. The BMW driver drove into him! There was plenty of room and if there wasn’t he shouldn’t have tried passing!

Unless the OP was illegal in anyway, and frankly, even if he was, the car driver is the blatant numpty and wholly to blame!

Why would he need an ■■■■■■ vehicle blocking lane 2 when he’s only 9’3" ■■ It’s not necessary or required. He probably had 6-8 inches off each side so barely wider than his mirror arms. The beemer passed him less than 8 inches from the edge of the trailer bed and is therefore a tool of the highest order :grimacing:

I’m sure tyre fitters, HATO, road workers etc would love him pinching 6 inches of the h/s.

Are you serious or is this a windup? an ■■■■■■ he,s only got 7inch o/hang both sides, showing revolving lanterns, lights on extremities,if the beemer driver couldn,t see all that he/she shouldant be driving.Perhaps avisit to specsavers might help.

+1 you’re asking for trouble if you start doing that.

Can’t see how this could possibly be Edsharks fault.

Some people make bigger prats of themselves after being prats in the first place.

Seems to me that the OP did everything with safety in mind.

This Beemer bloke probably has a note on the top of his ladder at home saying Stop! Do not proceed further.

Long time since I did ab loads but by memory it does not even need a movement order is less than 9’6" , BMW driver is a numpty, so were plod who attended.
