Are MAN tgx electrics usually rubbish or is it bad luck?

Been back tramping 6 weeks in said motor, first week the 12v on passenger side blew and with it my fridge, replaced the fuse got another fridge and it’s happened again :imp: :unamused:
I thought it might be my fault you see, have spoken to the boss about it and he said he’d have them looked at, well my new fridge socket completely melted and now I’ve had 2 USB plug blow in the 24v one I use for phone and sat nav since Friday.
I know I need to remind the boss ‘again’ but I feel it’s something he/the firm won’t be interested in and I like the job but it’s getting me down eating crap constantly and wasting money eating out, I’m putting weight on to.
Is it unreasonable to demand it’s sorted? Anywhere else I’ve worked just get it sorted asap but with me not being here long I don’t want to be Johnny big ■■■■■■■■ but at the same time think I need to find an alternative firm I can’t go on like this :unamused:

No it’s just your truck I run a waeco cf35 fridge off my Tgm 24v all week from 6am Monday to 6pm ish Friday no problems at all

How old is the wagon?

The older models were constructed badly, curtains falling down, panels dropping off, disco lighting effect dashboard etc. We’ve got 14 plate and 65 plate versions, they seem ok and fairly sturdy.

I drive a 61 plate TGX, I have found that the 12v hells socket blows fuses for fun and the 24v in the ashtray blows now and again too. So in answer to your question, yes the electrics don’t seem the best!
Try getting a voltage dropper from any truck stop, it runs out of the 24v socket and converts it to 12v for your fridge. Works well for me. Cost me around £30 so it’s a bit of cash, but cheaper than buying food everyday.
Hope this helps mate!

It is the bosses truck and he can do what he wants with it.
There is no law to provide a fridge.
Putting on weight is eating the wrong food.
It is not the employers fault you are fat.

Course not, but being on the road between jobs makes it difficult to buy fresh produce on the run around. i don’t want to end up with diabetes and rely on eating crap to live I prefer to make my own tea and I know what’s going in it.

The 12v socket have 150w output and the 24v 300w maybe you overload the sockets!

Only had a sat nav and phone charging, not even always at the same time. And the 24v blew my plugs up when there was nothing connected with a nice pop.

The 12v hells plug I’m sure is only 5amp so I’m not surprised your fridge blows it . As someone else has said best to go via a dropper in the 24v . But yes the MAN electrics are poor they chew thru batteries and we had one catch light and totally burn out .

Although it’s a TGM, ours has blown two brake light bulbs in a fortnight on the same side. It warns of “brake lamp failure” before it actually has blown (do a light test and it works) and then will blow not long after.

According to the book in the unit the 12v is a 25a fuse, I’ve replaced it 3 times. The radio runs off the same circuit. That has cut off to, but replace with new 25a fuse which is all in the hand book it comes back on.
We are meant to be upgrading this year to merc actross flat floor jobs so I may just persevere for now in the hope it won’t be long till they arrive.
The wages are crap, some of the jobs are rage inducing but I actually enjoy working there and got a 24 year old lad straight out the army under my wing who keeps me smiling and money is bang on every Friday.
My tm said he’s gonna look into it for me this week coming as he doesn’t want me to go, I hope he means it as I’ve heard it all before

it’s a man the whole trucks rubbish
