Are Bosnian people stinks or what?

orys:
According to Wikipedia it’s multinational oil company, based in London, merged in Standard Oil from Indiana, US, and BP is explained as “Beyond Petroleum”.

that must be the polish wikipedia I gather

The same facts as on BP.com.

Off course that not changing fact, that British Petroleum was a big brand - that’s why new corporation still uses BP. But in Germany for example you won’t finf BP, but Aral.

Welcome Milodon

and the fact that british petroleum merged with another company but is still based in london means that the stations are not a british investment in poland. that’s just great.

about a year ago I stopped to direct a pole obviously lost in a residential neighbourhood near my house. he was in his fifties and should definitely speak russian, if he wanted to. although he was overwhelmingly grateful, polish was all he could thank me in. that was just out of spite too, right?

Most of them were Aral before, and then were rebranded to BP after merge.
But what are we talking about and for what reason?
Of course, they are british investitions in Poland - Cadbury, Tesco’s etc.

But that’s not the point. Their not doing this for charity reasons, we both know that. They want make money. Both sides have profits on that. So this discussion is waste of time.

And one year ago, on the Isle of South Uist, I met one british citizen, native Scot, who don’t speak english. She was about her 50 and she was speaking Gaelic only. Should I make an opinion, that british citizen’s can’t speak english?

One question, if it’s so good why don’t you do us all a favour & [zb] off back there?

HEY !!!

That’s my line!
Few questions, if you don’t mind:

 1. If you tell the Canadians “It’s raining today” do you hear “So why you [zb] do not pack your [zb] british [zb] and go back to your poor stupid country full of [zb] [zb] [zb]” or they just agree “oh, yes, weather is not too bad today”?
 2. If yes, will you try to defend Britain (as we both know it’s worth it) or you just answer to them “Oh sorry you wonderful canadians, I will never criticize canadian weather again, I am even ready to claim that black is white, but please let me, stupid brit, stay in your magnificient country, when is always sunny”?
 3. If you don’t understand something and asking “why?” do they listening to your question and trying to answer you, or just do not listen you at all and just telling you to get lost back to Britain?
 4. And one more question. You don’t go to canadian sites at all, as you don’t want to integrate with canadians, or you just avoiding multinational subjects?
In answer to your questions,
1, i don’t mention the rain, I assume that they have also realised that it’s raining by the fact that they are getting wet!
2, WTF has British weather got to do with Canadian weather, it’s a different country, no point in moaning to a Canadian about it, the only person that can change that may not even exist, depending on your religious beliefs!
3, Some good, some bad, that also depends on how i phrase the question, if I start by saying ‘why do you do that? we do it this way in England’ I would expect them to say ‘Well you’re not in England now, so do it our way or get on with it yourself’
4, Yes I do integrate with the natives, especially if they are females with long legs & large breasts   Seriously though, yes I do try to embrace the Canadian way of life, IMO it’s the easiest way to settle in a new country.

There are small minded bigots here, just as there are in the UK but for the most part if you try to integrate then you’ll be welcomed, the same is true for the majority of the UK, however if you do nothing but hang out with fellow Poles, eat Polish food, drink Polish beer etc, then don’t be suprised that you are viewed as an outsider. here in Winnipeg there is a store that sells English products, i promise you I will NEVER enter the place, no matter what I want, there’s always a local alternative, try it for yourself, you may be suprised, there’s more to life than boiled cabbage you know

I actually find this one of the most entertaining threads on this site, and I can see both sides of the arguements put forward. Poor old Orys does take some stick but handles it pretty well

Classic!

Don’t encourage him for God’s sake (as if he needs encouraging) I bet Horace could have an argument with himself. Christ, he writes about 100 words to everyones else’s one. I bet that ■■■■ could write “War & Peace” in half an hour!!

This thread has hasn’t been hijacked as such, as Orys (Horace) has simply posted it to get our back’s up and it has worked. This website is supposed to be about Trucking. I doubt Lucy & co ever expected it to debate the merits & demerits of the Soviet Union.

I suggest we send him to that famous City in Warwickshire (or the West Mids if you prefer) and leave him there.

COVENTRY!!

I doubt Lucy & co ever expected it to debate the merits & demerits of the Soviet Union.

No…But as someone who works for a Finnish/Icelandic company which ships to and from Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Finland and Russia the whole thing fascinates me. I’d love to do an exchange with one of our drivers at the Russian or Finnish end (the other countries don’t AFAIK use in-house transport…yet) just to see how the other half live, because from what I gather we have it disgustingly good here.

We also now have more and more dealings with Eastern Europeans in this country when they are shipping things “home” - trust me, these people work hard and know how to make summat from nothing, so I wouldn’t knock them for a second. Where do you think all the used clothing UK charities collect gets sent for resale to raise money? Where do you think a lot of our waste tyres go for refurbishment and reuse? It’s stuff which is just rubbish to our spoilt and pampered selves.

It’s also why I find it impossible to knock anyone from that part of the world who comes here to work - I’d be a hypocrite, given who I work for, and the fact that given a choice between an English handball team who spend 6 hours tipping a 45ft box, most of it on the phone to their friends, or the Poles who do it in half the time, I know who I prefer to be on that loading bay waiting for me.

Without Finnish, Baltic and Russian ingenuity and work ethic, I and 59 others wouldn’t have the best driving job on Teesside. God help us if they ever pack up and go home, we’d all have to go and get a proper job! :open_mouth:

You know very well, that it was an example.

If you will ask me in Poland “why do you do that? I am asking, becouse I am used to something different” I will be interested in what are you used to as well, as you are interested in why I do it my way.

I am agree with you about that, but I can’t understand why you renouncing with english food? I like polish food and my scottish friends enjoying it as well. In my local shop I can’t never buy polish bread, becouse is always gone, and it’s bought by Scots… When I am going to polish delicatessen on the other part of the city I have always a few orders from my british friends, who enjoying polish food. I think you can enjoy local food and your food at the same time. And you can try every other food - indian, italian, french… It’s nothing wrong with this.

I would stop to help out another driver, no matter what nationality he is. i know what it’s like to be in a foreign land with little knowledge of the native tongue.
there are some people out there who have no idea what being an hgv driver is. they think that having a licence is it. but there is more to it.

Hi Orys time for your chill out medication.

Go out and enjoy the weekend :unamused:

Orys, newmercman & others are making perfect sence, i’ve read through your posts before responding to this one, well it’s my first ever post so I dont want to start off on the wrong foot.

You do appear to defend your fellow countrymen in any post that has a pop at them, even when people have legitimate issues, that’s where you go wrong dude, other than that you appear to be a decent bloke & an asset to UK PLC, but CHILL OUT dude, you’ll make a lot more sense then.

Ps newmercman, you are a total wind up, ‘I don’t mention the rain, I assume that they know it’s raining by the fact that they are getting wet’ quality mate lol

You’re right. Sometims I am going to far. Often other are going too far too.

Only real trouble spot is where people thinks, that they have legitimate issues and they not. I lean towards defending east europe by explaining some questions, giving informations and arguments, but some people do not want to listen - for some “polish driver = moron who can’t drive” is good enaugh…

orys:
Ok. I am shut up now :grimacing:

and yet you are still here

Are Bosnian people stinks or what?

No doubt some of em do like an otters nest, law of averages aint it?

There is something in your point of view. :unamused:

You would stop on a busy motorway to help a broken-down driver? Have people never heard of emergency telephones, mobiles or HATOs?

This reminds me of a time when my mate was night-trunking down the M6. Further up the road, a supermarket lorry was broken down on the hard shoulder and his imbecile of a mate pulled up alongside him IN LANE 1 to ask what the problem was. The resulting crash destroyed my mate’s 6-week old hire motor, and he got away with a few cuts and bruises.

The supermarket driver ended up “helping police with their enquiries”.

This is one good reason NOT to stop on a motorway to play at being “Recoveryman” Orys, you obviously do things differently in Poland, but you’re over here now. Please abide by our rules - when in Rome & all that.

If your question is supposed to read “Do Bosnian people stink or what?” then I’m sure there are stinky people in every country.
