one of my old gaffers went for a meeting at ford’s in pomezia many years ago, along with the italian lady who ran our milan office - on their way out of the site, paola arcese and some colleagues were on the way in, also for a meeting with the same people
our two were astonished later that day when one of the people from ford’s rang to say that one of the arcese party had reported that they overheard them “calling signor ****** (the ford main man) some bad names” when they passed at the gate - they were both adamant they hadn’t and could only imagine it was some childish attempt to lose them work, which it didn’t
ps i’m not badmouthing the company, just an amusing story, well i thought so
wirralpete:
seen an sk regt one just before christmas at transmarc, female driving it, young lad sat on the bunk and a male in the passenger seat one way to take the family on holiday i suppose!..
I’ve seen all nationalities, with a man, a woman and a kid, sometimes two.
If your away a lot, and you can take family with you, it seems like one way of spending more time with your family.
been working for arcese uk for 2 years now,i think i was the 1st driver taken on who was"nt ex transmec.the job can be demanding at times and wont suit everyone. We tend to leave tilbury with maybe 4 to 6 drops sometimes more, then some collections.we tend to have every second ngt out so were not away as often as some jobs.normally we change over trailers between trips as they are loaded overnight for us.we are saleried mon to fri then paid o/time sat/sun,when on holiday my moneys the same as when working.we are the largest operator of iveco trucks in the world, the last ones being mega spec grey imported from italy and arriving with italian plates.when they get to know you and workout you do the job properly they treat you like an adult and leave you to get on with it.an honest opinion is you could certainly do a lot worse
