Hi
Can anyone in the know please confirm this is correct.
I have the Class C1 on my licence due to acquired rights passing my test in 84, now is it right that all i need to do is the 35 hour Driver CPC course and then a DCPC card will be sent out.
I do plan on taking my taking my class C then C+E but wouldn’t mind finding some work on a 7.5t first.
Can anyone suggest or recommend a company to go to for the DCPC course in the northwest Wigan preferably.
Thanks for any advice from a newbie who is prepared to listen to any advice from anyone.

You need DCPC - either the 35 hrs, or you could do the initial if you wanted.

That’s correct
Actually you have the choice of doing the 35 hours periodic training or mods 2 and 4 of the initial DCPC, but mods 2 and 4 are tests that can be failed whereas the 35 hours periodic training has not tests.

Not my area but I’m sure someone will be able to help.
Hi Wigan_lad,
Yep your going the same route as me, aquired rights for C1 looking to do C but 7.5t in the meantime.
I’ve done my mod 1a/b but halted there as doing my 35hrs CPC to get my card, which will enable me/you to get some 7.5t work.
You’ll also need your digi tacho card (about 32 quid from DVSA)
I think if you do your 35hrs, then do the C route training, you can add some hours from your training onto the top of your 5 year CPC (but I’m not 100% on this).
Good luck
Steve.

You can be sure if the provider has C and CE training DCPC approved
Do the 35 hour now get DQC expiry dated 2021
Do another 35 hours and get new DQC expiry dated 2026
The second DQC may not be issued until the expiry of the first = new proposals
Thanks people lots of advice and good luck to the others taking the test.
It just struck me what Steve said, and realise now i have to take a Theory test before i can drive a class C
Best get studying I have my medical Sunday and will be sending my licence of the same day, so i will not be able to do any DCPC courses till my provisional licence arrives.
Been quoted £300 for the 7day 35 hour course including the upload and Vat…
Regards

Yea sorry 5 days.
Does that sound right having to pass my theory once i get my provisional to drive a LGV C Class.
Cause that will mean Steve who posted above, has passed his theory but will have to retake another theory when he gets his cat C provisional.

Sorry Wigan_lad, I didnt explain it very well.
I got my C1 already on license (as you) & then applied for my provisional “C” before taking my LGV theory & hazard perception. As Rog said, I’ve now got 2 years to save for my C training.

Who has quoted you £300? I’m just being nosy
You can still attend the CPC training even if you have sent your licence away - or at least you can if the training provider knows what they are doing and you know your licence number and national insurance number and have a valid passport.

seems about the going rate, however they only do them on Saturdays
and there are only 2 more Saturdays to go then they have a break.
Hi wigan_lad,
Be a bit careful, Wigan LGV-CPC Training Limited (their actual name), only have a single approved course on Daily Vehicle Checks. I think you’ll find those to be five verrrrrrrry boring days…
