I was always convinced that with working over a weekend, provided no more than 2 fell in the same fixed week, I could technically do 4 in my working week

you can do four tens, sat, sun,min and Tuesday. You are correct. hence you can do six fifteens too! without the need of split daily rests! Fri, sat, Sunday, mon, tues and Wednesday. as long as you havenât done any before and after the weekly rests. Technically/ legally yes youâre still correct.
Iâm not following that. Six consecutive fifteen hour days? Where are you fitting in your weekly rest?

Reduced daily rest periods are counted between weekly rest periods not counted by the fixed week, you cannot legally have 6 consecutive reduced daily rest periods without at-least a reduced weekly rest period in-between.
The rule is that you can have 3 reduced daily rest periods between 2 weekly rest periods.
You can have 2 x 10 hour drive days in each fixed week.

but fixed week is 00:00 hrs Monday til 00:00 Sunday midnight, so providing youâve not done any tens prior/ and not going to do the following fixed week after you can do 4 tens on the bounce and six fifteens too without split daily rests. Sat, sun, mon and Tuesday. And the fifteens fri, sat, sun, mon, tues and Wednesday. Two different fixed weeks.

But you can only reduce 3 times between weekly rests. So I donât see how thatâs legal?

I must admit, I thought I was bang on with my stuff on driving and working times. Not had an infringement since last November, so I thought I was doing it right.

If you work over the weekend you can do 4 consecutive 10 hour driving days, 2 in each week, no-ones disputing that.

The fixed week doesnât come into the equation.

Which just proves to me that the âbullshyte bafflersâ that came up with these regs succeeded in baffling themselves with their own bullshyte, which is perfectly ok because theyâre not the ones whoâll get into trouble for not following the rules properly
To have some rules fall within a fixed week and have other rules fall within weekly rests is nothing short of complete lunacy!

I canât argue with that.
Apparently if you work Monday to Friday itâs only safe to have 2 extended driving days, but if your working week crosses the weekend itâs safe to have 4 extended driving day.
The strange thing is that thereâs a pen pusher or 2 somewhere in Brussels who thinks that makes sense
