I dont go in oxfam shops anymore

A mate of mine got a job in oxfam when he was transferred to a sort of open prision/hostel to get him re settled when he got out.
The shop was in Richmond and they used to get some good quality gear as it is a wealthy area. The manager used to go through it and sell loads of stuff at boot sales and on e bay and stuff and pocket the cash himself.

never used a snack van since witnessing one van owner, on the top of bowes on the a66, stood behind his van, in his ‘chefs whites’, smoking and having a ■■■■■. he then wiped his hands on his apron, before starting to cook again. the side door was open and i definitely didn’t see him wash his hands.

And that goes for every bloody caravan burger in the country. I defy anyone to start work at 6.30 and work until 1500 without needing to ■■■■, that includes the women, what do they use to wipe it?

And same applies if they need a ■■■… :open_mouth:

Well with my job on 3663 you get to see loads of disgusting pub and restaurant kitchens, unreal some of them. And, alot of places which market themselves as “posh” and “good home cooked food” is actually just 3663 basic range frozen goods. Nothing wrong with our stuff i hasten to add mind! Even alot of small local tearooms claiming to sell freshly baked cakes are really just selling our premade and precut frozen desserts!

There is a LOT wrong with your food. I stopped frequenting Wetherspoon’s pubs when they changed to your lot from Brakes. The quality is worse than Tesco Value range.

'Spoons don’t use 3663 stuff. It’s probably made in the same factories as everybody else’s but they have all their own lines coming through their own NDC.

On 2 separate occasions I’ve seen 3663 wagons delivering to 'spoons pubs. I don’t know if it’s down to the pub owner who they have deliver there or whether 'spoons dictate it, but I know that at least 1 of them used to use Brakes and as soon as they changed to 3663 the food quality fell through floor.

Well, as an aside, we also supply all KFC, Burger King, Greene King Pubs, ASK, Zizzi, Little Chef, Travelodge, Wimpy, Nandos and Subway, Plus All the HM Prisons lol! So we must be doing something right!

Thats all a matter of personal opinion of course, but im sure the vast increase in Wetherspoons turnover over the years suggests a different story! Mind you, i wouldnt know what food they have in there as we dont do it from our depot!

Most of your chain pubs dish out the same [zb] from pretty much the same menu, just worded differently.
I look down the menu’s and can see what was chilled and frozen, but cant argue at a mixed grill and a pint for £7, not worth switching my own microwave on for that.

Not surprised if you do a mixed grill in a microwave! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

They are no better than the fast food outlets, everyting chucked together :unamused: .

I think you misunderstood my post. I was saying I wasn’t surprised he preferred to pay for it at 'Spoons if he normally makes mixed grills in a microwave, ie. it will taste like [zb]. If you were meant to do them in microwaves they’d be called mixed microwaves, not mixed grills!

Of course, if he’s overnighting in the truck then he won’t have much choice in the matter, unless he’s like Chef Wiggy with a full BBQ set-up in his cab.

Be it a night out or at home after a long day when you cant be arsed cooking so its a microwave tea, nip to Spoons/Brewers/Carvery etc and dive on the meal deal of the day, ok so its not Michelin star stuff but a belly bloating meal and a pint for £7 is a good enough deal IMO,
Theres a chain that does all you can eat buffet nights, ok so the foods microwaved ■■■■■ but at a 5er a pop plus a pint it fills a gap.

With that list of ‘quality’ eating establishments you aren’t exactly supporting your claim.

tbh i,ve delivered to spoons and would,nt eat in the majority of em! mostly worked by college students ect hands down their boxers having a scratch and then touching your food,

been to many so called top notch hotels where they cant even peel a tata, get em shipped in pre peeled/boiled,

Don’t buy The sun

And they know exactly how many portions that will serve, without any waste or the need for some college students with their hand down their boxers to peel them

When I was a fish merchant we had a few top notch restaurants and top top chefs as customers, youd be amazed how much prep we had to do for them, and the look on the ignorant high n mighty chefs faces when ‘only the van driver’ could fillet a fish better than them, heres looking at you Mr Rhodes :grimacing:

When you were a van driver for a fish merchant you didn’t fully understand the world of ‘best is best’ & it looks like you still don’t.

To be top dog at anything you need the best team surrounding you, it is irrelevant whether the chef happens to be able to fillet a good fish, what’s relevant is he is able to source the best fish.

If Mr. Rhodes had a look on his face # I feel you interpreted it wrong, it was the look of “oh well, have to spend some time sourcing another fish merchant”.

The day any top chef takes a delivery from a van driver is the day our Queenie opens the door of Windsor Castle & listens to the pitch of the Kleeneze rep.

Obviously you aint delivered to a top restaurant (you dont want to either as its a ballache)
You go in and a Chef checks your goods, sometimes its the headchef as its their ■■■■■■■■ in the vice, when the cheif is there then headchef will always kick up a fuss to get the cheifs attention, the cheif then comes over and tries the heavy ■■■■ and tries to speak to you like crap (anyone who has done food knows Chef’s have ■■■■ attitude).

What you fail to understand is that some places will refuse to deal with top ‘celebs’ as it may look good on the CV, they can also do great harm should the ■■■ hit the fan, when doing the fish I personally knew of suppliers who refused to serve Le Blanc, Nutter and Rhodes (all Mcr restaurants) because of the demands and rebound effect should they show displeasure.
The frontline food game is a perilous encounter.
