Anyone worked or is still working for reed bordall?

Ok everyone, a further update. I had my interview this morning with Alfred Hymas. It was a great interview and the outcome was…I was offered a job. Ive accepted and start on the 4th March. Very excited. I got a great positive vibe from Hymas, the people I spoke to, the history of the company, and the way they operate . Exactly what I’m looking for. In the end I didn’t go where the money is better, but rather where I feel I’ll be happier.

Maybe I need to start a diary, “Jasesonix’s trucking diary” lol

Congratulations

Nice one mate. Sometimes in life its not the money that makes a job.

I’d have made the same choice!

Plus you’ll be learning bulkers, I like doing bulker work, something a bit different

Cheers guys. I also feel I made the right choice.

Welcome to the elite. Now you’ll embark on learning the ways of the bulk tipper driver. Nobody likes us but we don’t care.

Are we “elite”? I like the sound of that, but I thought the elite would be those moving specialist equipment, like those ginormous quarry trucks or 100 ton bridge parts lol

No no. Tipper pilots are the pinnacle of driving and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise

I’m considering applying for them in Scotland. I see their rate has increased recently. Anybody have recent experience working for them?

If you bend it, mend it! why not? wages are garbage but clean easy work…

£13 an hour. Not an outstanding rate but not the worst for dayshift. Plenty hours to make a decent wage.

Do they still pay trampers £1 per hour LESS than day men? Bizarre.

They suffered quite a serious cyber attack a fortnight ago which meant that they couldn’t actually do any of their own work (such is the modern day reliance on ■■■■■■■■■■ so they made a lot of drivers take holiday. They also sent a lot of their tractor units to our depot to provide traction for us, resulting in the bizarre sight of their units pulling our trailers.

That set the rumour mill into overdrive

I’ve no idea. They weren’t advertising for Trampers. Tramping not my thing anyway so I’ve no interest in that. Looks like it’s clean easy work but long hours.

Every man and their dog is pulling your trailers, were doing more loads from your place for our customer that your lot store,as your short a few bums on seats…

Not just bums on seats my friend ^^^^ it’s seats to put bums on we desperately require. It seems that when Iceland shout “jump” we ask “how high?”. We recently sent them 10 units and 50 trailers! Now we’re ■■■■■■■■ that we can’t cover our own work!

DOH!, It’s going to be fun when the rebuilding starts, who’s paying for that?

It’s started, gonna be carnage with the new plans for entering through what was the exit gate, you lot parking in our trailer park instead of where you do now and us losing our car park!

As for who’s paying, not a clue mate, although the smart money is on a consortium headed by the landlord, the boss of Iceland and a few others.

We heard Bestwicks/DFDS.

Jasesonix:
No. He said if anything is damaged through negligence then itll be paid by me @£10 pw until paid. If crash or damage truck badly then it’s goodbye! I think its fair considering im a newbie

Walk away now - They have insurance for accidents and damage and no need to be trying to pass the cost on to you . They are taking advantage of you because your a new start - if this is how it starts you can be sure it will get worse in the future .
Taillight for a V4 volvo is about £200 - ten weeks + dealer fitting charge +callout fee at night could easily cost £500 thats £10 A WEEK FOR A YEAR !!
