I thing the guy that got clamped may not be telling the whole truth. The sign clearly said no unattended vehicals . Are we realy supposed to believe he walked only 30 yards from his car and that was time to spot his car get to his car and get in a position to and actually lift the car off the ground that will take at least a few mins. Although I hate the thought of people getting clamped and parking tickets or towed but he was caught bang to rights .and if you look at the caption at the bottom of his post it does seems like he makes a habit of parking illegally . part of me think he may have parked like that just to get the ticket for another fight . But on to the original question they have or had a depot near me (kent) and were always advertising. I think they do a lot of police work recovering vehicals from crime scenes, accidents ect which will mean call outs at all times of day or night

^^ Exactly my thoughts, It does seem like he’s not telling the whole truth.
Yeh, the police contract is what im referring to actually. Ive been offered a job from them recently for the met police contract so was wondering what they were like. The call outs dont really bother me, but I am a new driver and this will be a first job, so may aswell take it for the experience.
Depends on what experience your hoping to get out of it. if your looking to get in to the world of recovery it will be a good stepping stone, but I cant see it counting for much on general haulage. If the jobs just crime scenes and accidents it will be interesting but if its lifting cars and vans from roadside stops in your own area Id personally think long and hard about it, you never know if your next job is picking the nutcase down the street from where you live uninsured motor .
It will be picking up uninsured cars aswell, thats not a problem. Its not in my own area anyway. Thanks for the advice Chester.
They have just been merged with The Mansfield Group. All now majority owned by Bidvest and lots of changes going on. Would be a bit wary of it at the moment if I were you as I think they are doing a bit of re structuring! As I understand it will not be Ontime for much longer as they are going to use the Mansfield name and livery.
Yeh I remember someone telling me they won’t be using the name On-Time for much longer, thanks mate.
Went to their queenborough depot last week and all of the paperwork etc is headed up as the Mansfield group. I’ve heard that initially Mansfield have bought on-time. The entire group will trade as Mansfields and then bidvest will acquire a majority share in Mansfield. Not sure if there will be a further name change. As for the work, I’ve not heard anything bad about them but the recovery job is very similar where ever you are. Been to various depots and the people have always been helpful and polite.

Please may I just correct you: Bidvest have a bought an 80% stake in The Mansfield Group, with the balance being retained by Mr & Mrs Mansfield. The Mansfield Group is being merged with the Rescue & Recovery and Parking Solutions divisions of Ontime Automotive, giving Bidvest the UK’s largest rescue and recovery business.
Ontime’s Global Automotive Transport Services and Technical Services divisions will remain as Ontime, and will have no connection with Mansfield, other than being sister companies in the Bidvest Group.
Errr I don’t pop in that much but this caught my eye,
I don’t want a job ok!!!
But can someone tell me what the ontime lhd artics do? As in how far abroad do they go? And what reason? Are they recovering brit cars from europe? Always wondered what they do. And if you could throw in a few dubious stories that are blatantly exaggerated, that’d be great thanks.

Everywhere! This includes Russia, Ukraine, etc., Greece, Turkey and the occasional foray into North Africa. The reason? Customers want things moving to and from these places! It’s all on the website: www.Ontime-Auto.com - I’ll let you source your exaggerated tales elsewhere
Not quite recovery, this is related to Ontime Automotive at Fenny Compton
Has anyone seen or heard from Les Steemson. His daughter has posted on Twitter and in our local paper that Les has gone missing around Derby where he lives, he is severely depressed and needs to take medication for a heart problem.
I got on very well with him and would love for him to be found safe and well.
I dont have any experience of the ontime group, but i am an ex employee of the mansfield group. If it is run as mansfields are then you can expect:
Very long hours, forget tachograph regs and wtd.
Wages will be wrong, you wont get paid for the hours you do, or you will get a stoppage of up to £500 for using the company mobile phone. (even for ringing customers)
You are only a number to them, you will get spoken to like crap by controllers and managers.
If you point out that any of their procedures are illegal, start looking for another job.
Vehicle mantainance is poor. I can remember being asking to fill in inspection sheets for vehicles for previous months as an inspection was due.
Staff turnover is high because of this.
Most employees leave on payday, hardly any bother to give notice. If you do give notice dont expect to get paid.
Please note this is not hearsay, this is fact. I lasted nearly three years before they decided to take a third of my wages off me. Never went back, never will.
