What about bonnie Scotland ■■?

As it turns out though, for a day of apprehensiveness and trepidation, and thinking I was a t [zb] t for posting it, I now have an invite to go on a narrowboat for the day
I wouldn´t have been doing that had I not put meself out there
If you can get along it will be good, I’ve had another TN member come along for the afternoon before who I’d never met and he loved it.

How many TN members have you had on that boat exactly Harry?
There are a few missing on here of late that are said to be on ‘‘pre mod’’ and have never been seen or heard of since. …hmmmm (stroky beard moment)

I already have the roll of carpet and length of heavy chain to weight it down with before poor old Steve ends up as fish food at the bottom of the Paddington Arm.

Gonna have to dip on the Thurso trip, unfortunately. It´s a shame because Scotland is probably my favourite country.
And, 869 quid round trip is a bit much when compared to 0 for me London trip

Unless DVLA have took it off me, I am a fully qualified commercial diver, I can make a breathing rig out of all the plastic bottles and old beer cans
If I owned my own narrowboat no way would I let a complete novice take the helm while I was 40 odd feet away getting ■■■■■■■ wouldn’t even do it now on my old Thames barge and about 6 feet away … Ps, Drinking here while on duty or not is a big No No but cheers !

Nah, I won’t actually be doing that, it was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek comment. I do encourage visitors to drive the boat, in fact that’s what everybody wants to do, but it is always done under supervision. And canals are of course a very benign environment compared to rivers or the sea.
I remember the first time I drove a rear wheel steer dumper. That´s didn´t go well.
I only hope that the wind is in the right direction and we can get the sails out, saves all that tiring rowing stuff.

Years ago I was invited to go on a weeks broads holiday with my eldest lad on a 10 berth boat for free, gratis, nowt but found that I spent most of the time driving the damned thing which after awhile got a wee bit boring … do enough of that in me day job !!
Well, dunno about Harry but I had an absolutely BRILLIANT day out
I am, today, trying to find the photos on me phone. I have not got a clue where it stores the recent ones.
When I find them, probably tomorrow, I´ll put a thread up in Bullys with a write up. I know Harry got some pics too.
Not kidding, it was a proper good day out
Are you mooring in Paddington Basin or Little Venice Harry?
Might be delivering to a site near the basin next week if you are still there…
When I last saw him he was at the very end, 100 metres past the station, where the Go-Boats moor up. Whether he´s still there or not…
I have some photos but for some reason I can’t manage to re-size them and they are massive, I can PM them to you if you want to have a go at it… I’m still in Paddington Basin this morning, my Mum and boys are getting the train up and should be here early afternoon, then we are going to Limehouse, and it’s the Thames through Central London tomorrow and then I’ll start heading back up to the Midlands for early September.
Then back to work for the Winter.
I really enjoyed our day out too, I don’t mind single-handing but it’s always good to have someone else along for the ride.
Edit to add that I did manage to post a couple of pics on the Narrowboat Desiree Facebook page, here- facebook.com/narrowboatdesiree/
Yes mate, PM or email, I think I have that enabled in me profile.
