HI ALL

littlejoe
I too was at A.Biggs – I worked on London Trade out of Odhams, Odhams work out of Leighton Buzzard [Sth Coast runs] !! I was also on “General” for A.C.Biggs at the same time as Derek Caine, Pete Layfield, Ralph Draper, Bob Chapman etc etc … I was also on International driving a Daf & Leyland Marathon…
Peter Roffe was an apprentice fitter at Freddie Ray’s… At A.C.Biggs we had John Huggins [a REAL gentleman & a pleasure to work with] as workshop manager/fleet engineer…
In the traffic office was Brian Slater & Ted Lawrence + others… Admin office was Marge & Sue Goss… After Stan Hart died there was a new M.D. Len Sparkes – also Geoff Reynolds worked in the “International Office” !!
When the International finished at A.C.Biggs I went to O.H.S. on Middle East work [depot at Rainham] !!
Following that I was at H.G.Browns [driving a Mack] – John never had any other U.S. trucks other than Mack, both “Bullnosed” & “Cabover” !!
After John finished [and his sad demise R.I.P.] I did stints on Anglo Espania/Union Transport subbing for Rokold … I then worked for A.C.H. at Stone & Aylesbury – latterly Norbert Dentrassangle at Aylesbury & Leighton Buzzard !!
Guess who you are ■■ You are joking of course –
BIG LEGGY

There were 3 ex A.C.Biggs drivers who worked for Tony but I wasn’t one of them !! I did work with/for Des [Tiny] Lee at one time though !!
I never worked for Mortimers !! Never collected out of R.P.L. [but I know Tony Bandy] !! Never worked for Sid & June Edwards [knew him from Dawson’s though] !! Never worked for Pete Roffe either but know him really well !! Italian Joe ■■ Only one I know was out of Bedford with Iveco’s & got busted for drug smuggling a fair while back !!

Hi All
I worked for A.C.Biggs , the boss was Stan Heart, the Manager was Ted Lawrance, and Stans son Denzil also worked for the company, Peter Roff was’nt a fitter in my time with the company, I drove to Odhams Press watford every day to get my work and i done a job called ( london trade ) 13 or 14 drops all over london, I worked with Bill Bandy, Peter Layfield, Kieth Sobey, Farmer ,and many more.
I think the Peterbuilt owner was Pentus Brown ( I THINK )
ECE was down off billington road just past Pages Park and started i thnk as ABLE CARRIERS and ran a fllet of bright green vans.
JLS Haulage used the an office in Peter Roffs yard, and i think he had his few trucks parked round the back of the yard, F10s i think.
Sydney J Edwards would take on any stragler that could sort of drive a truck , but he had some good guys too, Andy McAdam, Danny Wright, Rob Eaglesham, even my brother i think done a spell with him, and john beaumont worked in the office, BUT dont forget BEAUMONT HAULAGE who my brother drove for , he served a long time with john Beaumont and loved the job, I know john very well, he spent a lot of years working for Peter Locket at RPL Transport, I have had some good laughs with John Beaumont, he is the only bloke i know who would be on the phone and getting arse raped by a customer and then he would say thankyou hahahahaha.
I am a LEIGHTON BUZZARD BOY FOR 30 YEARS and all my brothers too are drivers ,
I aint gonna tell you who i am, Guess.
Im really glad i found this site and i hope this info has helped someone with there questionsCatch ya later …littlejoe
I work with Andy McAdam at Downton’s, Good old boy is Andy…
John Beaumont has now left RPL and is driving for Keystone’s in Hatfield…
JLS - My old man was on for them for a few years, John Sulivan has 2 F12’s which Johnny and Kieth Drove, an old Transcon which the old man jack-knofed at South Mimm’s, an old Fiat of some some description, the ones with the Tri-lex wheels… Used to do all the car parts out of GPG in Dunstable
He then got a load of MAN’s, 1 16.172 rigid, a handful of 16.292 which Plastic Leg Tony and John T■■? had 2 off, and 2 16.331’s which the old man and Kieth had… After that he got some F10’s, then some 340 Turboliner’s which Tony, Graham, some one else and the old man had doing Spain and Italy with…
Little Joe
You’re not one of the Green Brother’s are you■■?

I’ve known him for years & years [I knew his brother on H.G.Brown’s] – I remember Ted on Dawson’s when he & Alistair went to M/E [any of you Buzzard boys know if Alistair ever came back home] ■■
Last time I met him he was on a company out of Bedford [Hughes ■■] & we were together in Morrisons Warehouse at Northampton !!

My memory isn’t what it used to be on dates & years etc [said it before – to much Raki, Ouzo & Frizanti] so I will not hazard a guess at remembering the time scale, but Leno [Franco] died of cancer at home in Frosinone !!
Thats a real shame to hear about leno remember him as a true gent. Thanks for the info
