Anyone looking for class 2 tramping. Immingham

Oh, and if you must know, I get £440 a week. Which is not a lot. But I like the vast amount of time off that I get.

It’s ok to work for what suits yourself, its when you have someone working for a low wage and doing big hours it’s sole destroying to even read about it, you think how and why would anyone work for that.
You just don’t know other peoples lifestyle or reasons for why they do it
But one thing is sure and i do know this that jobs like that will always be filled

My TM asked me if I knew anyone looking for class 2 work.

Permanent job, 6 months probation, tramping, 65 plate Volvo FM with tail-lift.

Not 100% sure of the rates but think it’s £450pw +£25 per night. O/T on weekends.

That 6 month probation sounds fishy,it’s normally a month…3 at most.
Maybe he’s got contract come in that needs covering for 6 months and it’s cheaper to “employ” someone for 6 months than pay agency.

As I understand UK law, any employee can be dismissed without reason in the first two years? So, a “probation period” doesnt have much meaning anyway does it? Unless its a different pay rate before and after said 6months?

There are a couple of defences against the first 2 years and now tribunal fees have been scrapped again firms need to be slightly careful as the costs of defending a tribunal can add up even if they win

If that’s after tax I would take £450 plus night’s out. I wouldn’t be “working” any more than 9 hour shifts though. Time and a half for anything over 9 please.

Like it or not, that is the going rate for Class 2 at Immingham. I don’t know what the work they do is like but the best Class 2 work used to be DFDS. Before they starting knocking wagons on the head that is.
