Ark-Angel:
1950 Bedford OSS (tractor unit version of our motor) The trailer is a 3ton Scammell ex Ministry of Defence .
Thats your answer now have it and like it. As for the mirrors they have probably been changed for something of the owners preference as the original mirrors were about as big as the open end of a teacup according to someone who drove them for a living.
it is a bedford OB - i quoted somebody a few weeks ago to bring it from Andlau near Strasbourg to Hull, didn’t get the job (done on the cheap with a caravan numpty by the look of it ) and so don’t know any more info unfortunately
Its a Bedford OSS as has been said, the O stood for ‘O’ Series models of 4 to 5 ton (K, 1 and half ton, M, 2 to 3 ton) the S stood for short wheel base and the second S stood for Scammell as they used the Scammell coupling, a joint venture by both companies. Mirrors and lights are always dodgy to go off for revealing the true make as these are often changed by restorers to comply with todays laws or be more practical. Franky.
