Anyone had Eddie Stobart assessment?

Congrats fella. Nowt wrong with the tesco lark. did Goole for best part of 2 years myself. As a new driver you`ll learn more in first month than you ever learnt when learning  If you go a week without learning something new then your doing something wrong imo. Nobody knows everything but the little things you pick up will make your job easier

I still work for Stobarts but doing something else now. Lots of different things at stobarts if you fancy something different and want to expand your horizons.

Congrats, just DON’T hit that bridge as you go out towards the M62. Double-deckers don’t fit!

Tarrman-Hi mate,im on days,friday-tuesday. Not the best shift, but I guess the easiest way in! There seems to be a lot of new people here, every time I get talking to someone, they seem to have started around the same time as me! Still enjoying it though,so can’t complain!
Tim-yes definitely aware of the bridge issue! Mention Victoria road to anyone here and they cringe! Theres a picture on the notice board in the drivers room of the last 'decker to venture down there. What a mess! Not had the experience of driving with a 'decker yet,but I suppose im going to have to drive one at some point :open_mouth:
Thanks for all your comments guys

It’s not so bad working over the weekend, best pay rates are Saturday and Sunday so there’s a bonus. Not sure I could do days with all those multi drops and smaller stores, nights is the way forward :sunglasses:

I see new people all the time, seen loads of people leave aswell so it’s not for everyone. It’s a great place to start though, loads of experience to be had.

With the deckers just take care on roundabouts and sweeping motorway slip roads, you’ll find there’s more cages on the top that the bottom (bigger compartment) but they are more stable than you think.

There’s a handful of planners who I dislike but the majority of them are genuinely sound. Opps’ are great aswell.

Just be nice, don’t complain, do your fair share and you’ll find easier runs/drops coming your way. It’s not half as bad as people say it is, I quite enjoy it. I’m off on Pat leave at the min but look forward to getting back to work.

Might bump into you one day

Tarrman , goin off topic a bit but , do you get your £15 a day grub allowance on paternity leave ?
Jim

No mate, only get that for days worked/on duty. I’m using holidays though as the basic Pat’ leave pay is government standard. For me I’ve taken 3 weeks holiday (one week fell in the last tax year) and a weeks Pat’ leave.

Thanks mate, youll probably see me the first time I drive one-ill be the decker making steady progress at 40mph on the M62!

Don’t worry about it

We all have to start somewhere. I was the same when I started last year. Just remember your height and to read and understand the risk assessments. They are fairly up to date and tell you everything you need to know although the map takes a few months to decrypt! (Why they cant just copy a road map I’ll never know).

Good luck :sunglasses:

Hi all,

I’ve had a driving assessment with stobarts last week, because it was on a Saturday I couldn’t get the interview on the same day. The drive went great but I still haven’t heard anything a week later. I’m guessing it was a thanks but no thanks or am I just being paranoid lol.

Any input would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Tom

Did you do your assessment drive at Appleton mate?

Yes I did it with Dougie pal.

Dunno why they bother. My first run in any kind of truck of any size was at Stobarts on agency, in the middle of the night with 26 tonne of coke on the back.

Thimgs must be bad at Stobart if they’ve now started to under cut the drug dealers too  :grimacing:

Did they tell you that you couldn’t have interview on the Saturday before or after you had done assessment drive.

Panic over lol, I’ve got an interview at Appleton this week coming, so just need to see how that goes.

Did you take/get the job Thomas??

Yes, start induction tomorrow

Yep, standard enough interview and test drive. I was on their walking floors for a couple of years when they started running them.
If they didn’t have such a knob running them I’d still be there.
He thought POA could be used for everything but driving and insisted on it being used as such even though I pointed him to VOSA’s website explaining its use. ■■■■■■■■■
