Starting at 7pm. Got to run a trailer of coca cola from Northampton to Lancaster to do a trailer swap with a Scotch driver. Not sure what time I’ll finish, but hopefully by 5am.
I was starting at 04.00 with 4 drops on that would take me all day what a nightmare, glad I woke up when I did

So the night before Xmas Eve I got given Barnard Castle for Xnas Eve. Told the office they’d be closed but instead of acting upon it they sent me on a 500 mile round trip ‘just in case’ so I ended up driving up there, phoning up to tell them it was definitely closed then driving back again
Same here with the Ipswich (Qld) show day. Told 'em 3 times the meatworks would be closed, but sent me anyway (Cryovac) Got there at 5.00am and made sure to phone the bloody planner to tell him I was coming back.

Have these ‘planners’ never heard of phones?? [emoji849]

Our planners will never ring the customer in this situation for one reason alone; they don’t want to hear the answer that we cannot deliver our tat there. They’d much rather send the vehicle in the full knowledge that the delivery will not be met than make a plan B.

Has something similar other week gave me a collection to go to vanguard at Trafford park. They close at 4pm don’t ask me why they close early .
But anyhow once collected knew it was going vanguard rang office said be about 6 before there and they shut at 4.
Was acuused of talking out my backside. Got there they were shut left work panicking then as they had an early next day collection lined up for me what a shame lol.
I gave them planty of notice but as ever they choose to ignore advice there given. The office is always right so we’re told
We’re lucky in a way shut Xmas Eve go back 2nd .
Altough way it falls this year finished on 23rd back in on the 4th.
About only reason I stay here as guaranted Christmas new year off.
Done my fair share of working over the festive season.
Running up the m1 from the airport last night between 10-11pm I only saw 1 truck on the road, and plenty of fools during their cars in the outside lane with no one around them for miles, and a couple of suspiciously looking drunk drivers who’s cars where struggling to stay in lane 1 as their concentration failed.
I popped into Blyth services on the A1 this morning to drop off my PCR test sample and there’s only 3 trucks in there (2 Brits + 1 EE)
I’ve just driven from Leigh to Chester, seen about half a dozen wagons on the road and about 50 parked up at Lymm truck stop, so no matter what you think of your job it could always be worse!
Personally, I was due to finish in the early hours of Boxing Day, but had a few days annual leave to take so actually finished on Tuesday and don’t go back until the 4th of January

Better than usual for me; for the last 16 years I’ve had to work between Christmas and New Year on the animal feeds, but with new job on tramping I’m now off till January 4th, barring any ■■■■-ups.
Christmas Eve nearly came unstuck, my unit needed for service before midday and trailer not ready at Calor; ended up having to run to the yard and swap it for another unit which meant rushing about to de-kit mine and not having my kettle for a brew; thankfully got to Llandysul and they were open so got a cuppa there.
Now fully breakfasted, Handel’s “Messiah” turned up to eleven and over to girlfriend’s for Crimbo dinner later. And that’s the only driving I’m doing!
