Hi, All
Whether it’s a 14 litre or a 10 litre the E series ERF was a damned good truck. I drove a E series for a year or two and I always found it comfortable and well powered for the job. If you had a twin splitter in it ,so much the better.
We cannot compare today’s trucks with 450 + hp to trucks of the 80’s, but even today you cannot get from one end of the M62 to the other much faster in a super truck of today then you could with a fleet motor of the 80’s.
And ,I shouldn’t wonder , we (the driver ) had more time for ourselves in the ERF’s heyday then we have today.

Cheers Bassman

They were running a D plate last year,
Keep meaning to go upto their yard for a peep round, see what else is hidden there.

Bought and paid for and earns money = perfect combination

Same motor seen here hauling one of their tankers

Cracking them Mooland, as I said before it’s still great to see the classics still working for a living!

Cheers

I must be getting older… I don’t think of E-series’ as ‘old’ - even though they are :exclamation: :exclamation:

Was getting pictures over the bridge on the M62 today and a rather unusual sight of a green Erf E series pulling what seemed to be a highish curtainsider. Just wondered if anyone else saw it today. Will get a pic of it up later on when I can find it  Just thought it was nice to see an old motor still putting in a days graft!

Cheers

Ah, so it was you wondering back and forth on the bridge! Isaw you and wondered what you were up to! I was also overtaken by said ERF!

If any of you lads are ever around the Oldham area and you have the time to spare its worth a look in there yard, its like going back in time.Colin Barrett who owns the company is also the head mechanic and what he dosent know about lorries isn’t worth knowing, each and every one of his vehicles (although of old age) are absolutly mechanicaly sound. The 55 plate they have just aquired apparently came from Hoyers.

More than likely had its front grill swapped due to damage.
Colin Barrett has plenty of spare ERF parts in his yard taken off scrapped vehicles.
Originally E414 UHS was registered new to W H Malcolm Limited of Renfrewshire on the 1st of September 1987.

Yes, I too get a warm glow of smug satisfaction when I see some poor sod have to drive a piece of junk like that and I realise how lucky I am!!

No. Theyre not good motors. They were rubbish when new and they havent improved with age.

LOL! You’ll not see the Euro crap still working after 25 years however comfy they might be to sit in…/
