Anyone been furloughed yet?

Winseer:
I was applying for UC at the start of the week as I was having to drop shifts unpaid for childcare and was losing 50% of my wage and my company wasn’t willing to furlough me. You might be surprised at how much you’ll get and it takes 4 or 5 weeks to process so it’s worth a shot. But now my company has decided to furlough me so I’ve cancelled my claim.

Just got a heads up I won’t be stood down/furcoated as on contract, suppose it’s up to customer to decide.

are you on contract to a shipping line dd ?

Yeah MSC

I’ve just asked my agency to put me on furlough.

£550 a week for getting out of bed at 04:30 every day, working 50 hours a week and risking catching a life-threatening illness, or £440 a week for sitting around watching repeats of “Wheeler Dealers” and scratching my ■■■■■■■■…

It was a tough decision to take. :stuck_out_tongue:

Reading this looks like you guys are just describing the beginning of a depression from inside.

work for me dried up on tuesday (agency) so the big rush seems to come to a end, oh well such is life, guess the wife will get that list of jobs to be done out :open_mouth:

I’m up for that - but was led to believe that “Agency would say no”… I can but ask, I guess…

I did everything online on Tuesday and they phoned me to today to confirm everything. Told them I didn’t need it anymore and they said it’s ok just keep it live and if my wages drop too low they will give me cash automatically. Haven’t claimed anything for 20 years so was amazed how easy it was.

The equivalent of 3-4 days pay for sitting on you or ■■■ for a minimum of 3 weeks is a no brainer

at 58 why can’t I have a zx10r

Buy what you want, but atm the consensus is that anyone riding their motorcycles is deemed a social pariah, because it’s not IF you will have an accident, but the consequences of you taking up the resources of the emergency services and the NHS should you have an accident.

I actually paid the tax on my motorbike for 12 months yesterday but it’s not going anywhere atm.

Btw I won’t mention the fact at 58 years old, a zxr is going to kill your wrists, back and shoulders after an hour of riding it, & with your lack of recent riding experience your more likely to be a casualty figure that requires intensive care and one of those respirators that are so desperately needed

Well, yes, I’ve asked for it but whether they agree to it is another matter. I’ll let you know.

i’ve got an old AJS combo that i’m going to put on the road start of May,if we’re still furloughed.got a box on the side so hopefully won’t fall off it…and i can use it to do my shopping

We are still working at near normal levels.
Some of our work goes to factories who are closed down, so that has gone, but the backbone of our work is for supermarkets and restaurants. Although the restaurant side has shrunk the public are still eating and drink as much, so the supermarket work has grown a bit.
One driver I know of, has self declared sick and gone home, another who was past retirement age anyway has now left. I believe the rest of us are still going on. As our jobs arent at risk, we wont be getting 80% from the Gov, but we can take holidays or unpaid leave if we wish, and return later.

The furlough money plot thickens, as I suspected the agency has dropped a bullock and paid furlough money this week, instead of starting to pay it next week. That is why I ended up with 180% / 1.8x of my wages, and they are starting to panic and would like it back. Personally I don’t have a problem with repaying it back as I have enough money to get by, but others aren’t so fortunate and have probably thought that all their Christmas’s have come at once with up to £577 each extra in the bank. The agency have realised that it would be insensitive (that’s a 1st for an agency) to take ALL the money back in one go, so they are probably going to take it back in smaller amounts, how much is yet to be decided otherwise some people may not have any money to put food on the table in the coming weeks

As you’ve got to be furloughed for a minimum of three weeks why dont they just not pay you next week as you’ve already had it?

Im sure Peirre isnt like this, but I`ll say some might have already invested their “bonus” in lottery tickets and the like!

Anyhow I’m still in next week albeit on nights so no furlough… yet…

That’s the problem they’ve found themselves in, people have got the money and most likely spent it. Personally as the amount of money will be the same each week, AFAIC they can withhold my money next week to redress the problem but I doubt others are in a similar financial situation as me.

Had a letter in the post Friday asking for volunteers first. Initially for 3 weeks, but maybe up to 6.

On fridges, levels have dropped, mainly on the food service side of it has just more or less gone altogether now.

They wanted the volunteers to gone on furlough as off tomorrow (Monday 6th). Not heard anything so I’ll ring for my start time later and see if I’ve a run!

Sit down with pen and pad , work out your finances and if ok take the offer
