If you are owed any holidays, you dont have to take them, you can roll them over for two years

Depends on your employer and contract, surely? If
Two-year rollover? Unusual I’d have thought.

Government update. They’ve given two years so that in any one year there isn’t suddenly a load of people needing to take holiday in a short space of time.

Got txt telling me I’m down to work weeks starting 13 &20 April this week ( joined up ) so
I guess not off , so off next week then back , not surprised as says work at Xmas levels .
I’d be happy with 80% of wage so I’ll have a word & volunteer to be furloughed to
Save a youngster , they need the extra 20%

I’m that mad one who decided to hand in his notice at the beginning of the week! :open_mouth:
As i was finishing on Friday, i heard that quite a few, if not all our distance drivers in our North Lanarkshire depot had been furloughed. There has been a few had phone calls not to come to work at the Grangemouth depot.
Not a good sign if my (now previous) employer has gone down this route as he is a major player in the industry.
Fingers crossed this move is the right one for me… :unamused:

Got radio on some expert legal phone in.
If you do get this furlough pay. You have to pay tax and ni on it

Where would you expect the government to get the money to pay you from if you didn’t pay tax & NI on it?

It was to he expected.

Meanwhile the employer gets the wage they’re paying you, the NI they pay as a company on your behalf, and the pension contribution they put into your pot paid for.

They also said the government wont.be making any payments untill the end of April.
If your monthly paid should.be ok

If.your paid weekly be a problem

And your company has no legal obligation to.pay you the 80% until they receive it then they have to pay it you .
Although there hoping a lot of company’s will.do the right thing and pay staff as much as they can untill the money comes in

He Also said technically there’s no ruling to stop you working elsewhere while on it.
The ruling doesn’t say .anything in the small.print.
But if there’s reports and.lots of people.doing this then things could.change
But as it stands you can work as well

It depends on the terms in your contract. My lot were asked this and pointed to a clause in the contract prohibiting it and said that really its not in the spirit of the scheme, which I get.

Also clarified was if we would get paid in the interim until government grants kick in and they said yes they’d be paying wages weekly as they are now and will claim back from grant when it starts so dont worry as theres enough in the pot to last a year if needed until the government scheme kicks in although its expected to only take a month tops.

all depends who you work for. if a smaller company like me 5 trucks.
im guessing he doesn’t have that much in the bank.
but were see

Some of us at our place are still working so some income coming in but not enough for 30odd drivers
I’m working Monday and take rest of week as it comes

I doubt it will stop the furloughed agency drivers signing up with another agency and increasing their income. But I suspect that the number of agency drivers furloughed will be minuscule, and not all of them will take extra work when they can sit at home and get paid

around 30 drivers at our place too.our Customer with over 170 shops have closed the business down for the duration.for now we are doing deliveries for Lidl and Pepsico…but if/when that dries up,i think wee’ll be shut down :frowning:

Our lot have had a temporary pay cut of 20% until June, due to poor trading. Over the last couple of weeks, trading has got much worse. The aviation sector has took a major hit. Company are implementing a capacity cut of 50%, so are planning to furlough the majority of their workforce over April and May. They seem insistent that redundancies are off the table at the moment, and if they do what they do, all should be fine.

They’ve divided people into groups. Group A will be furloughed for April, back to work in May. Group B will work in April, but furloughed in May. Group C (those at bases where work is non-existent, or who have medical conditions / family medical issues) will be furloughed for both months. Group D (specialist workers and accountable managers) will not be furloughed at all and will work both months.

Waiting to find out what group I’m in, but I’m guessing C, as my base has practically closed due lack of work.

Like many people have said, I’d rather just crack on and have a couple of months off. At least you know where you stand. As opposed to the constant stomach-turning moments when you get another email from the company, citing more trading problems and to standby for more information about our ever closer impending doom. I’m just fed up with it now.

Me and 5 others today [emoji47] now only skeleton staff on
All but the leased trucks SORN’D

Govt website says the furlough scheme will only be available at the end of April gov.uk/guidance/claim-for-w … ion-scheme … so its anyones guess how long it will take after that before anyone sees any money from it ?

Company pays you then claims it back from the government. Your company will still be the one who pay your wages, so as long as they have enough money in the bank for one month’s worth of payroll then you shouldn’t really be affected.
Most companies run payroll on a monthly basis, that’s why the ‘delay’ of not implementing it until the end of April, because it was introduced too late to be in place for March payroll.

My son in law was sent home for 2 weeks as having symptoms for corona virus, they told him to clear the truck out, while it went for a deep clean…all he can claim is for £94 a week…no good to anyone is it, so beware as not everyone will get the 80%, as they believed they would.

Thats because they sent him home for 2 weeks sick so statutory sick pay is in effect there rather than being furloughed because of no work.

You get SSP from day 1, so when he has done his 14 days, he can ask to be furloughed. He cant be sacked for having a virus.

People who have left a job can ask to be taken back on and furloughed too, its no skin off the companies nose.
