Does anybody know of any ex Hargreaves Fuel Oil (Liversedge) men that are still alive? I’m one and I know John Pannet from Leeds is another but I’d be interested to hear of any more.

I have a mate whose father spent all his working life on tankers, Smith & Robinson’s, then Hargreaves, I can’t remember his dads first name, but the surname is Greenall, I can remember him coming home for the night and parking tankers on the street, kids climbing all over the trailer… imagine that nowadays…

Name doesn’t ring a bell, before we went to Liversedge we did a bit at S&R’s and Hargreaves. They were only 200 yards apart in Rothwell and both by that time in the Hargreaves Group.
From another topic (the Ministry Men), brother did his apprenticeship at S&R’s many years ago, it once got to the stage where he couldn’t work on the motors that were on contract to Wyatts in Leeds, the stink of the tallow made him physically sick.
