Stopped a Police car as I was getting my kit to take in the house, thought that’s handy it’ll save me a trip to the station.
Basically he didn’t want to know, he said if I give him it, it would just get destroyed.
Making no comment.
So in an envelope to DVLA.

Tbh he looked at me a bit puzzled in a …‘‘Wtf is that to do with us’’ kind of way.
Maybe it’s me being a bit old fashioned, once over if you found something you handed it in to Police…do you not do that anymore? (Genuine question btw)

I thought you handed somthing in if you found it they just dont want to do anything other than drive roundlike starsky and hutch as if they were important
I imagine that most rank and file coppers get as ■■■■■■ off with their management as lorry drivers do with theirs. As with most careers they probably went in full of enthusiasm and a genuine wish to make a positive difference, but as time goes by they tend to knock that attitude out of a person so we end up where Robroy’s cop was; basically reasoning that unless a major crime has been committed then why should he/she generate unnecessary paperwork for themselves when it’s easier to avoid it in the first place?

And chances are the DVLA will just destroy it because the driver has probably ordered another. It’s just like when you lose a credit card. Chances are soon as the person realizes they lose their credit card they cancel it. They not gonna hang about for weeks hoping it turns up.
Also I suspect the guy does not want his mug on this forum . So may be worth taking the picture off lol.

On one thread you tell me that driving a US spec Volvo is going to be for 10 quid an hour,…despite being able to count on one hand .(and still have some fingers left) how many UK firms run them.
Now you advise me on what you do if you lose cards,.and tell me I’ve made a mistake putting a photo up on the forum…despite it being based on honourable and helpful intentions.
Thanks for the pearls of wisdom,…when I need a life coach,.rest assured you will be the first on my list.

Cheers Mate,.I did wonder, the copper was fairly young and the way he looked at me I did wonder.
Gives them more time to harass truckers and raise some cash eh?
Sorry I’ve been resisting it but finally couldn’t resist any longer

Btw what are your methods of sucking eggs.?
You may have put it up for honorable intentions, but there is no reason to leave it up now it is no longer in your possession.
Also not only his name but his date of birth is showing. Which is sensitive personal information. gdpreu.org/the-regulation/k … onal-data/
As for the Volvo thing. You misinterpreted what I said. I was talking about the UK market. I was not talking about US trucks in the UK.
e.g. an advert from DHL.
A lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They’re a joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats and many more optional extras to make sure you’re comfortable.
Salary 30k a year.

I agree. Long gone are the ideals of protect & serve (the public).
I guess the younger ones never even knew it being that way.
@adam277…Don’t you worry yourself about it mate.
If the mods ask me to take it down,.I’ll take it down,.rest assured…not a problem whatsoever.
Like I said, (or at least attempted to imply tactfully).when I want your advice, I’ll ask for it.
Cheers.

That’s £14 an hour.
Surely you’re not suggesting DHL make their drivers work for over 62 hours every week?
I said DHL offer high spec vehicles and get paid like 30k a year.
I’m unsure how much DHL get paid per hour or how many hours they do.
I know when I was working their a few weeks ago I was on £19 an hour and they were on something like £12
It’s hard to work out DHL actual hourly rate as they have bonuses and other extra things like if you dont hit anything.

Maybe the mods could set up an ‘Ask Adam’ forum. A kind of agony uncle affair.
My first question would be,
What’s the difference between, there, their & they’re.

The second could be -
When do you use a comma and full stop together?
The third -
How do you unstick a full stop key…

That’s what they were paying when I worked for them based on a 50 hour week overtime at time and half over 50 hours. 20% Nightshift bonus. The 5 quid was for using our own phones to ring the office.
I know the rates have gone up since. Overtime has gone up to somewhere like 24 quid an hour can’t remember exactly how much but a mate did tell me the new rates.

I use them interchangable I guess it is a habit I have never got out of. I know the difference just laziness when it comes to typing on a phone I guess it’s an over reliance on autocomplete. I’ve never been too bothered about it though because it’s a trucking forum.

When you create a thread on this forum you open yourself up to different views and opinions. By all means berate me but I’m sure you would not like it if someone posted your mug on this forum without your permission.
As for being worried, I could not care less.
