Toytown…answer me this, why, back home does everyone love the sound of a Freightliner or Kenworth or Peterbilt, I have driven them all and I would still rather have an FL10, what does that tell you…? Yes, Yes, I hear you, they look so shiny and they have big sleeper pods, yes that is true, but as for the driver area, it is cramped, old fashioned and thoroughly uncomfortable. I SWEAR to you, if I could by a Euro motor over here, it WOULD be here. American trucks are the most awful pieces of junk I have ever driven, if you guys all came over to drive one for a day, you would be the same way. TRUST ME.
I have read loads about various yank trucks & every brit seems to be of the same opinion as you – must be true
I can’t understand why they are so basic & uncomfortable in a country that is so advanced Is it all down to the american attitude to foreign imports “If it ain’t yank, it ain’t no good” ■■?
I would love a conventional for my purposes, just for the looks factor, BUT if theyre as bad as everybody says … prob better off with a worked out old magnum
If you got a web page listed her with your truck stuff on i will go & have a look, if not … wny not
After a lot of to & fro about where we should meet, i just got the impression he doesn’t want to drive it too far
then … today he sends me a scan of the V5 & it has the signature & date on it from the guy that sold it to him on FRIDAY !!!
Nowe he offered it to me on Wednesday - 2 days before he bought it
IF he’s just a small time dealer making a few quid, then that’s fine. He’s done some legwork & earns himself a profit - i have no problem.
But: Did he buy it with a major fault i havn’t spotted on a short test run ■■
Over cautious maybe, but …
he told me it was “on italy” last month & the log book shows a one man “container transport” firm !
he told me he bought it whilst his merc was offroad & was using it – nope, he didn’t own it then !
Then he refuses to deliver it a few more miles
Alarm bells ringing, sorry but i chicken out now. I don’t like liars & usually i am a very good judge of character & this guy is like some of the undesirable the little car dealers I knew so well in the motor trade.
Got a chance of about 3 now, not magnums but all clean trucks being sold by the poeple that are using them.
That’s a shame John but in a way you are probably better off not having it. The early Magnums rolled a lot on roundabouts and in bends. This was a manufacturing/design fault but they did remedy it on later models. For the price though, it did seem a good deal.
There is a fella in Maulden, Beds. between Luton and Bedford, that deals in Magnums. I will try to find his number and pass it on to you.
They were known for rolling were they I thought it was a problem with the bags 9not too woried about them, still think it might be a duff sensor or whatever controls the air pressure to the o/s/r
I have spoken to the guy in Beds, think it was Alan ■■ Seemed a decent bloke but got nothing suitable (well - cheap ). Was worth ringing him though.
OK John, that’ll save me seaching for his number. The rolling was on all of them up untill about ‘M’ reg when they got it sorted. They still lean well on bends but you dont feel ‘seasick’ when you get out now.
Never mind get the Sed Atki…LMAO. Mal… Now that would be a waste of money…
As for a website of what I drive Toytown, I only just got accesss to a digi camera, so I will try to get a few snaps of my trucks and try to build a site, need some help doing it but I am sure I could make it happen.
