Anybody driving for stobarts outvof Felixstowe?

Hi,
basically I’m after some general info on Stobart’s Felixstowe. I’m going to be doing some agency work for Stobart’s Felixstowe depot on containers which is something I’m yet to do, just wandering if anyone can give me some tips/pointers on container work also some info on the cabs Stobart’s have fridges etc

Cheers in advance

Fridges? You’ll be lucky if you get mirrors.

Really, that bad?

Didn’t know Stobrats had a base in Fxo or have I missed something?

They claim to have a base in Southampton, and I believe by that they mean the Tesco’s RDC…

Apparently they have set up a depot in the last couple of months…that’s all I know

That’s why Gosport tescos is out of stock of every thing

Unless the rumour that Stobrats have bought the Orwell Truckstop is true. Anybody know any different? I’m pretty sure it has been sold.

I worked for stobartports out of Newport depot on containers

We had basic Scania trucks on a 14 plate, no fridge or microwave ?

Mon - Fri, 4 nites out, occasionally running in on a Saturday and you can max your hours

Using all the container ports in the UK

when quiet or the boat is late you will do some curtain work on General haulage to keep the truck working

It’s not hard work, or rocket science, You will have to chase for your VBS, apart from that good luck

The truck stop at Orwell has been sold to an investor/entrepreneur. The staff there were given three weeks notice for redundancy about 10 days ago. Been told by the staff there that the new owner wanted to change the use of the grounds but that Ipswich council have already said they would block any change away from a truck stop.

If Orwell closes, then it will be a nightmare for parking down there, especially the way things are on the docks at the moment.

Someone should tell Paul who takes the money then. I asked him about 3 hours ago and he said they haven’t heard anything yet. The rumours are rife, I wish Anne would just let people know. One minute it’s stobarts, then Orwell trucks, then maritime, then it’s Harvey Macintyre, I’ve heard it’s going to be a drive through Costa, but all I know for sure (from Paul) is the bloke that’s bought it lives in stowmarket. There’s an owner driver in here I chat too, he’s heard nothing, and it’s his operating centre, so he’s tackled Anne and she’s told him nothing’s happening for the forceable, so 3 weeks notice looks unlikely. Maybe someone should ask Goaty, it’s his operating centre too :bulb:

Apparently there are 17 o licences at the Crossing. None of us have been told a thing, official or unofficial, only rumours.
It’s very unsettling tbh as suitable yards are at a premium between Ipswich and Felixstowe. I know most of the staff, good people in the main and they’re confused by it too.
I have my own thoughts on the buyer but naming such an obviously secretive future landlord will not endear me to them.
I’m deeply concerned about the effect this will have on truck parking in south Suffolk.
Therese Coffey (?) our local MP is to busy campaigning about the ■■■■■ mobile phone coverage in Felixstowe to be concerned about scummy lorry drivers. Time will tell.

Tell her how bad the 3G is at the far end of the lorry park, she might get interested then

The woman’s an oaf.
