Any truth in these redundancy payoffs

ive heard figures of £70,000 for 20 yrs service and another of £34,500 for 10 yrs service with the co-op at osset, is this true or ■■■■■■■■ , if its true then it blows the myth that all transport pay +t +c,s are crap,im sure i read on here somewhere that pay for co-op drivers was poor

It depends on the Company. Each Company must pay a minimum amount depending on length of service and age but it may top that up if it wants to. I guess that Coop may have done that if those figures are to be believed though they do sound too high to me. Probably somebody bragging.

You’re in fantasy land if you think someone would get 70k

It used to be a weeks pay for each year youve done and if youre over 41 years of age it was a week and a halfs pay for evey year served.
But i dont know if thats still the case.

It could be true it’s just very rare. I don’t think anyone has ever said ALL transport pay +t +c+s because there’s always been exceptions to the rule and there still are jobs today that are much sought after. It’s just MOST jobs that come into the crap category!

And the tax on both amounts will be horrendous.

Ken.

yes its true as i am currently working out of somerfield lea green and we are taking all the work from ossett, bradford, talke and eccleshall depots. The co-op drivers that i have spoke to all say the redundancy payments are fantastic and thats why they are all staying and waiting for the payouts. The only drivers i cannot comment on are the eccleshall drivers as i have not come across any of them.

.

redundancy pay is tax free!
but I thought that I was doin well with 22k for 12 years

how do they work it out?

direct.gov.uk/redundancy.dsb

it shows you how much you would get etc

if i was chucked out i would get £1400 for 4 years service, bit low ain’t it!!!

here is an example of some one doing 22 years service,

Based on the details you have provided, you are entitled to 27 weeks of statutory redundancy pay at a rate of £380 which totals £10260

This calculator is intended only as a guide to show how statutory redundancy pay is calculated for people who are entitled to receive it. Whether or not you are entitled to redundancy pay will depend on your individual circumstances.

The calculation of 27 weeks of pay is based on:

-0.5 weeks pay for each full year of service where your age was under 22
-1 weeks pay for each full year of service where your age was 22 or above, but under 41
-1.5 weeks pay for each full year of service where your age was 41 or above

i say thats LOW!

Only the first £30000 is tax free, the rest at the higher rate of income tax.

it is different if the co goes ■■■■ up ie bankrupt.
when our co went ■■■■ up i got.
1 1/2 weeks at £380 capped = 11 years sevice mine was based on my basic weekly wage of £280 = £4, 620
plus cos the co did not give me 11 weeks notice----------------------------------------------------------= £3, 080
plus they failed to give us 90 days notice of redundancy-------------------------------------------------= £5, 040
all in all i got -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------= £12,740

which all came from the gov
