If so ,where did you train to get your license and where have you been diving ?
I got my PADI advanced in Goa with a Scottish lad doing the training William Downie , and dived at Scapa Flow , numerous German Navy war ships that were scuttled and now are mostly upside down .
Hurghada and Sharm el Sheik ,Egypt , one hotel based shore dives and a live aboard at Sheik to see the Thistlegorm , full of cargo .
The Maldives , got a cheap flight to Mumbai then a hydrofoil fast ferry to the south to get a boat to the Maldives , accommodation at $50 per night .
Fort Lauderdale while living there .
Oban Scotland , clear water and decent ship wrecks .
Falmouth Cornwall .
Gibraltar.
Thailand.
Barbados, Jamaica , Antigua , Trinidad and Tobago , and St Lucia .
My wish list is the Japanese fighter planes in the Far East .
if it was oban then you no doubt took a peek at the breda??
sunk in the war by getting bombed by german fokkers flying in heinkels.
part of the cargo was horses and when it was beaching to start with before it sank properly, then when the horses were jumping into the water and were barging up through the shallow water to wards the beach, the dads army idiots that had seen the german planes assumed that what was coming towards them was an army of german soldiers and machine gunned the lot of them.
i passed the bsac normal sports diver many years ago,but i only took it up as my mate was well into it and we owned a couple of semi commercial dive/fishing boats at the time.
he liked diving,i liked fishing,so after a few years i gave it up as it was too much messing about and a bit claustrophobic for me.
its somewhat different and much more pleasant diving in warm climes, than scottish waters.
It was the Breda , my kit was second hand and a wet suit not a dry suit , not good for UK waters ,to upgrade to new kit was too expensive , so I sold it , I know what you mean about all the faffing around .
A lot of lads were Nitrox divers , who could stay down for longer and deeper , for me , going inside the German warships at Scapa was an experience .
I don’t know wtf I’m doing posting on a scuba diving thread, as I’m a non swimmer whose worst nightmare is ending up in deep water.
Toby mentioned Scapa Flow, I’d love to be able to look down there, WW1 and 2 sites are my thing, but is it not illegal as Scapa Flow is classed as an official war grave?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
theres a couple of british ships that are designated war graves, and are untouchable.
the german ones have some similar status, but its ok to dive around them and clamber over then, your just not allowed to go in and nick a porthole with a crowbar ect.
i always wondered when living in donegal that if i lived in the town of ■■■■,would it have any adverse effects on someone wishing to partake in sub aqua activities.■■
