Any S Yorks locals? Wath area

Nah SatNav would never direct in through Rotherham don’t see problem in helping someone out with directions wheres the harm in it BigV?

It’s ok to help people. But when the person asking for help rubbishes advice…Good luck!

I went through Rotherham once and never again to much off a ball ache.

Know what you mean Jessicas dad personally myslef I would use the M18,a1(m) may be longer but time wise its all in the time of day and how traffic is in Rotherham etc at 2am in morning we used to literally fly thre but then going out at start of shift at 5pm forget Rotherham lol. As for giving advice BigV its often asked for and seldom taken but I always try to help where possible in the hope that if I need help someone will do them same for me (incidentally they did I got a great job by word of mouth on here cheers to another member!!!

Wish I seen this earlier Rob I could have helped you as I live I swinton

Take it you got there ok? Where did you deliver?

Definitive answers for you from a local Rob!

Coming off the A1 at J37 you can go along Barnsley Road (A635) and turn left after about 5 miles at Cat Hill roundabout (Darfield), then left at next roundabout which takes you to within about 6 roundabouts of where you want to be!

If you come off at J36 off the A1 (A630), head towards Rotherham passing through Conisbrough. As you pass the Hill Top Hotel you drop down into the village of Hooton Roberts. Turn right signposted for Kilnhurst. This is a quite a narrow road but used regularly by artics. Follow this for about 3 miles. You will come to Warren Vale roundabout, turn right 3rd exit. Up the hill to Woodman roundabout, take 2nd exit signposted for Wath Upon Dearne road is called Sandygate. At the bottom of Sandygate, go straight over next two roundabouts (only 300 yards apart) and you will then be at Manvers by the Ventura call centre.

Alternatively, at Woodman roundabout, take 3rd exit into Swinton then turn left after about half a mile at The Gate Inn (Golden Smithies Lane). Follow this for about a mile and it drops straight down to Manvers.

Personally I’d come off at J37. If you want a slightly longer but more scenic route, use the other! Hope it answers your questions! Wath is a bugger to get into from Mexborough as most of the bridges are 14’6" or less.

Mr Mills I presume?

Killville don’t worry people do escape from the Dearne Valley area like I said in an earlier post I was local until 18months ago and working for Cepac on job and knock on nights I tried all the routes in and out of Manvers (Cepac is or was at back of Ventura). Even used to turn left into Goldtgorpe and go down through Bolton Upon Dearne but I’m led to believe that from the library is 7.5t limit now and can’t remember if there s a bridge that way been too long. I think your miles from A1 to Cathill are a bit out though definately more than 5 miles I’d have thought then again may be wrong but Marr drag is a boring stretch lol

Rob K:
Is there an easy way in to Manvers Way Ind area from the A1 with a 15’ high artic? I know I can’t get in through Mexborough or Swinton due to the bridges but I’m wondering if you can come along the A630 at the bottom and then cut through Kilnhurst on the B6090 and then up through Wath? Anyone know if that’s an okay road and no weight restriction?

At the moment I’m coming in off J36 M1 and along the frikkin nightmare road aka the Dearne Valley Parkway and those rbts REALLY ■■■■ ME THE [ZB] OFF          . Whoever designed that road needs shooting.

when i did dbc on manvers way first time i got a DRIVERS MAP out of t.o,told me all i needed to know, very good map, still got it in bag,try going to your t.o ,sure one of the other drivers will have drawn a map.

Lots of replies! :open_mouth: Thanks all.

In turn

Well I am an was going to put same as jessica dad but u, already decided it wasn’t good enough, it seems every route is too challenging for you take a helicopter it will be a more direct route fo  r you

I appreciated your help and advice, but personally I feel that coming off at Marr and basically going round all 4 sides of a large box to get to where I want is not really suitable, especially when coming from the south up the A1. Fine if running south on A1 from the north. As I say, that’s my personal opinion, I don’t expect you or anyone else to agree with it.

Where you goin, Tesco, Ventura? Kilnhurst way is all over bridges, no unders , cant be weight limit as plenty heavy firms up that way.
Know what you mean about the piggin polo s, cambers wrong on every single one of 'em.

It was Ceepac as it happens, round the back of Ventura. That’s good info about Kilnhurst, I now know that it’s safe to try that route in the future.

Rob come off at J33 turn towards rotherham then at next roundabout turn left for Rotherham, next rounabout turn right for Rotherham, next roundabout straight across, next roundabout straight across, then come off next roundabout signed Greasborough, at next roundabout turn right then next roundabout turn left and then you are in Parkgate but the right side of the low bridge follow road up through Rawmarsh straight over first roundabout then at next one take second exit off for Wath-upon-dearne follow this road down to bottom (careful spped camera’d outside wath comp) straigt over large roundabout then over mini roundabout and that takes you to next roundabout where its right for Next, DBC etc any further advise just ask. We used this route from Cepac at back of Ventura all time with tall trailers - hope this helps and I did used to be local upto 18months ago

Thanks I’ll try that one too. Ceepac is where I go.

He said come off at 34 never been that way JamesC and from what I remember Greasborough is well signed, don’t know road names it was always too dark to read road names

Did mean 33 not 34.

Why would anyone help you, with such an obnoxious attitude? FFS.
Buy a better sat nav.

Norfolknewbie ignore bigvern, everyone else does. He is still bitter about having a post removed and also that his fake facebook trolling attempt fell flat on its arse.

Thanks for your offer, it was Ceepac as mentioned above.

Is that defo 7.5t through Goldthorpe down to Manvers? Anyone confirm? If I’m coming in from north it’d be handy to cut down there rather that going all the way all the parkway and then down and back on yourself. ?

Mr K,…FAIL on soooo many counts. You sad, bitter man. When will you realise that loads of people don’t like you on here? Because I have no qualms about telling you. You wrongly assume that I’m the one behind your marvellous Facebook page.(Excellent work to whoever it is by the way!) And life is too short, to be bitter about having 1 small disagreement with a moderator.

So I think you should re-read the way you speak to people, when you don’t get the answer you want.
And who is it replying to my posts then? Just because you and your cliquey mates and 1 mod don’t reply.
Go and make up some ■■■■ again and whinge via PM to Denis again…You ■■■■. :unamused:

6.3 miles according to Google Maps! Not too far out! Feels like 5 miles if you drive a bit quicker!

From Goldthorpe, I think you’d have to drop down through Bolton On Dearne along Highgate Lane. Furlong Road has a low bridge on it. You’d then have to turn along Station Road as Thurnscoe Road is little more than a narrow lane! You’d then have to go along High Street before joining Dearne Road which now has speed bumps! Sounds complicated? In an artic it certainly will be!

From what I remember, there are no weight limits on these roads. (At least I hope not - I’ve been through there many times at 44 tonnes!)

Killsville there is a mini roundabout outside Bolton library we used to come down highgate lane and go straight across there but sure it is now 7.5t on the one way bit as they put the chicanes in dont quote me on that though. We were banned from using the next bit where the terraced houses were as some bosses from cepac lived on there and they didnt like the empty trailers at 2am bouncing over the speed humps lol

I usually cut through the Commercial Road industrial estate from the parkway and join Highgate Lane part way down. Had a look on streetview and can’t see any weight limit signs. Not a popular route for HGV’s but I’ve used it many times to cut through to home in Mexborough. Our curtainsiders are only 13’ so I can get under all of the bridges!

Thunscoe Road at the mini roundabout is 7.5t.

Thought it was it didn’t used to be though and as stated it isn’t a great route through what you save in distance you more than make up for in time!!!
