Any maritime drivers?

Just wandering, if you have a defect at Maritime, what is the process? Do you have a defect book? Do you call one fleet department nationally?

Call fleet on the cab phone - it’s under fleet - and also advise your planner of any delays.

Fleet will sort out what needs doing.

And do they give you a defect number? or do you have a book to fill in?

We have a defect book to fill in. A section to confirm daily checks were ok and section to note defects and rectification. Although we’ve taken on so many drivers lately, some aren’t following procedure. We got a letter last week saying we’ve had more pg9s in Jan and Feb than the whole of 2012 :open_mouth:

When I was there I kept dinging the skelly due to the different wheelbases for different loads. None of the damage went on my record - I suppose it was because the skellies were Hill Hire?

Why didn’t you ask somebody how to set it up then.

I knew how to work the skelly but I was used to fridge work & normal wheel base config but with boxes you are constantly altering the wheelbase. With normal close coupled arctics never a touch. With skellies always snagging the donuts. Plus the fact that box work is mind crushing boredom.
Anyway, the point I was making was that damage to the trailer never went on the drivers record which puzzled me.
