Any Jobs

Hahahaha hmmmmm I dunno what to think of this now after previous posts, thinking 450-570 take home with no nights out In Spaulding abit ambitious but who I’m I to judge

You ain’t gonna get rich trucking in Spalding area I haven’t in over 25 years it seems to get worse every year around here, could be all the ski’s & pay peanut outfits like turners that have f#*ked up the area, glad I went back on a farm & only drive farm lorry occasionally now.

I feel like my good nature is being taken advantage of recently maxing my hours and then going home with minimal rest. This wasn’t the job that was sold to me, So does anyone know of any decent firms to work for, within 20 miles of Spalding, ideally looking for something where your either out all week, own motor etc or home every night but only doing 12 ish hours a day on average with the odd 15 chucked in (not 3 a week, unless tramping).

Currently TAKING HOME between £450-570 WITHOUT night out money, would drop slightly for the right job.

Pm me if you don’t want to post on here.

Thanks in advance

But then they would pay by the hour, when they pay so much per week they want every hour they can get.

Then why would it be 12hrs when you can do 3x15 and 2/3x13.

It’s bull shine you do max hours on day rate! When it’s busy maybe you’ll get close, but since Christmas I haven’t done over 70 hours from clocking on to clocking off on a 6 day week, with loads of waiting time chucked in.

For my £130 on Saturday I did a grand total of 9 hours, 2 of which were on break!

Your name says NewLad - you’ve been driving how long? Trust those of us who have been bitten, it happens more often in their favour than yours :unamused:

Only if you let it! Some idiots tip on break then moan that there working loads of hours for [zb] money, if your paid by the week just leave it on work apart from genuine breaks simple.

To answer your question 18 months.

EDIT- Anyway I’m one to talk, if you listen to the guff on this forum, I work for one of the worst payers in the UK lmfao!

I don’t get your point?

Not every week is max hours, my last 8 shift have been shocking, I’ve said in this very thread that I’m just being mardy about it.

I don’t get your point about the pay either

Edit I have done 81 hours this week, there has been some waiting around but not a massive amount, I’ve clocked up loads of WTD hours, my average is already high and our reference period ends at the end of March, so all these hours I’ll be getting back, my tacho goes on work when I’m working, so they’ll have no choice but to give me short days.

NewLad:
Lol was going to pm you about your place but won’t bother ha ha. I wouldn’t mind maxing out if I’m sleeping out, just hate going home with only 9 off.

i don’t count commuting as Time off’ unless its a short shift after

I’d sooner have the 30 minute commute than be weekended a hundred miles from home AGAIN.

I’ve done 7 nights out this week if you include the two parked up

My point about the pay WASN’T about the pay, it was about the day rate and maxing your hours out for it.
My other point was about you being a mardy as you admitted :grimacing:

I will NOT have 9hrs off at a yard and go home, if they want me to have 9hrs off, they pay me a night out or I go home and have 11 off.
I have reduced to 10hrs off if the 10hrs off mean I’m not going to hit rush hour etc, but never 9.

Oh right, well it swings both ways I suppose, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday last week I only did 7 hours a day, this week I’ve been shafted!

I think I’m going to have to start putting my foot down if I’m doing a 15 and no on a night out and start taking 11 off.

Yep. Just explain that lack of sleep, dangerous etc. Don’t tell them you think they’re ■■■■■■■ for planning it though, that just gets their back up lol

Welcome to the world of lorry driving, nothing much change in regards to hours and pay.
Same old story money is good but just not enough of it for the hours you do

It our place we did the maths and its cheaper for us - and better for the drivers, if unless abroad rather than weekend out we set up an account with Enterprise, and hire them a car. works out at about 80quid inc fuel.

I’d get picked up if my old gaffer wasn’t such a bell about leaving the lorry.

Still my time is up at 3 tomorrow morning. One drop. Run back home. 9 off and back on tippers for a different firm.

I’ve packed all my gear out of this motor already just 3 holdalls to cross ship and some wiring to do
