Sorry but not right, that’s a Unipower and Faun with a Girder set trailer doing a Transformer move - bridges are now done by SPMT (Self propelled modular trailers),
As to why its Police escorted- it will be on a type of movement order called special order ( its been a while but a VS order?) which means it (on paper at least ) has to be approved by the Secretary of State for Transport and falls outside the legislation that allows private escorts only

there was a video on youtube if I remember of ales operating in a job out in Africa, I think it was for a hydro electric project and they moved transformers across a couple of countries starting in south Africa, I did look funny seeing uk reg wagons with all white drivers working out there at the time, and I don’t mean that in a racised way at all :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

I didn’t realise how big a company ale was until I looked at there web site, they also operate the biggest crane in the world. takes 30 day to put up and will lift 4300 tonnes. clever as well as it is designed to be broken down and all the parts fit inside standard containers, rather a lot of them has to be said :laughing: :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:
