Hello all
I was hoping to get some advice on getting some class 1 work. I am 27 and have held a class 1 since oct 2006. I got my licence in the Army and naively thought I’d be able to walk into a job.
Anyway a couple of years after leaving the army I have got no further than multi drop class 2. Although this is a good job it’s not what I want to be doing. At present I work for 3663 and there is no opportunity to get any class 1 experience with them.
So here’s my problems;
-
Getting my licence with the Army seems to put some people off the idea of giving me a job,
-
I passed my test on a Wagon and Drag wich again seems to go against me.
If any one has got any advice I would be grateful to hear it. Ultimately I want to be doing class 1 continental, though at present that seems to be a loooooooooooong way off!
A couple of ideas: track down a reputable school and book some artic training. Also complete your driver cpc. Both these moves will show your commitment to the job and your self-improvement.
Then get your CV together and distributed. Then get on the phone, start knocking doors - - get yourself known. Your time will come. There’s plenty of evidence of that within this forum.
I wish you the best of luck. Pete

Thanks for the reply.
I am looking at getting some time on an artic with a training school but are asking for £260 for 4 hours, does this seem right?
I am know also looking at cpc courses. Once again thanks for your help
£260 for 4 hours,
Sounds correct to me. But if you ring round you may get cheaper. Depends where you are and the quality of the training.
Good luck, Pete
