can anyone recomend a good free programme?
www.avg.com/uk Been using it for more than 5 years now with no problems
other antivirus products are available
I have 5 computers here and 4 are on AVG Free without a problem. My own PC runs on Kaspersky because it came free with my bank account.
I’ve got the option of Kaspersky too - is it worth the hassle of un-installing AVG & then re-installing Kaspersky? Is there much improvement?
Cheers…
I use Mac’s but on the Windows partition I have Advast, seems okay.
You got mail ,mr.B.
i been using AVG free for 5 years with no problems
the first link is a trial of the paid version i think, but i could be wrong
To be honest if your on a windows box you might as well get hold of Micrsoft Security Essentials.
or try this place…I want a Freeware Utility to ... 450+ common problems solved : eConsultant
I agree with A_A, just make sure click on the Genuine site (it’s the free one). Al
Avast Free Edition is spot on, caught a few nasties for me.
Perhaps Sony should try it. Cancelled my Card as soon as I heard. No more DLC for me. Al
also download malware bytes good at picking up adware, rootkits etc as most free anti viruses dont pick up all the crap, i have it and its good runs along side my panda AV
Avira is another thats good i run it with comodo firewall as windows built in one is very weak
( comodo anti virus was picking up a lot of false positives)
Taking into account that Microsoft are the world leaders in getting attacked they have to have the best free anti virus around now, I was a great fan of AVG, but they have become a bit intrusive now and can cause slow downs in your system M$ Essentials is by far the best out there now IMHO, but malwarebytes is a good side program to run whatever anti virus you chose.
I have just put MSE onto a neighbours laptop computer that was running extremely slow. I took out everything that resembled Norton and uninstalled AVG Free and the MSE works very well on that XP Professional setup, yet his PC wont run MSE
I always tell anyone to make sure there is only ever one type of antivirus on the system, any more seem to waterlog them
I used to be a huge fan of AVG free/pro but it is now a system hogger or bloatware, MSE is defo not up to the job, fake av programs can easily get past it. I now use Panda paid version, there is a free Panda cloud which I installed on a friends laptop and so far neither version has allowed any infection through.
I use the free-ware version of Comodo Internet Security and SuperAntiSpyware Pro.
Windows security essentials is free and pretty good
