Answer me this....

We’ve recently heard on this forum that it’s “Standard Operating Procedure” for drivers involved in fatal traffic accidents to be arrested “to assist Police with their enquiries.”

We’re told that it’s no big deal, and that it’s different to being charged and convicted.

That’s as may be, but My contention is that even being arrested carries a stigma that many people would possibly prefer to avoid. Especially after it has been established they are guilty of nothing.l

But answer me this. Why, after it has been revealed that for 23 years, the Police covered up how 96 people died at Hillsborough, and that there is to be a manslaughter investigation into the actions of up to 200 police officers, have no police officers been arrested “to assist Police with their enquiries?”

I’m getting a strong whiff of double standards mixed with self interest! If it’s not that, something else stinks!

If your arrested it’s logged forever on your record. If a future employer etc does a CRB check it shows up, even though you may have been de-arrested at the scene/no action taken.
