Another WTD disagreement with a planner

Nothing to stop a driver taking more breaks or longer breaks if they feel it is necessary especially for safety reasons

Yeh…

You’d think that but no, it just absolutely, without fail, no excuse, lives are at stake, I will kill myself over twenty tons of dog food for being late because it has to be there. :unamused:

it gets there when i get it there.

Has anyone ever thought that the main reasons for all these Euro-inflicted rules upon Road Transport - is to make it so expesive to “comply with” that we’ll be over-run by rule-breaking foreign trucks, whilst we get ■■■■■■■ in knots trying to obey all the contraditory and obstructive laws at once, all the time, at great cost in ineffective managers, and over-used public parking facilities?

I’m glad I sat through the previous years dcpc and 4 days this year to be told the same duff information. Still, I will not work longer than I feel comfortable with without a proper break and those that do are fools to themselves. I wonder how it would hold up in a court of law after a fatal accident, that a driver of an HGV involved in said accident had only 15 minutes break in a 10.5hrs. No laws seem to have been broken, but we live in a blame culture.

You’ve still got it wrong Wayne. Got to have had 45 minutes break for a 10.5 shift…

If the 10.5 hour shift had 4 hours of driving + 1.5 hours of other work + 5 hours of POA then no break in needed

I think he is referring to the example above of going 10.5 hours on only a 15 before taking another break.

Noone has said that you must only take the minimum, just trying to be clear about what the requirements are.

Given op has said forget driving it implies that he is in the yard, (possibly shunting?) So I doubt he is worried about an accident on the road

He never said that though, did he? Stop complicating things this fella is struggling with it as it is.

Maybe did not word that quite right. The op worked from 0400 - 1430 with only a 15 minute break, which is legal :open_mouth: 10.5 hours. In that 10.5 hours he only had 15 minutes break. The op didn’t mention driving time or poa so that’s irrelevant. Maybe they were constipated and sat on the bog all day and left the tacho on other work.

No he didn’t Wayne! Now go back and read it again then write it out 20 times until you can explain it to me or you’re headed for the naughty step laddie!

This OP.
Do what you want to do not what some office cabbage is telling you to do,
If youre worrying about wtd/ breaks ect, if doing other work stick the tacho on break, it’ll then more than cover for breaks during your working period… :bulb:

it gets there when i get it there.
