What did you expect 30k for day work there’s a lot of drivers currently out of work so companies can get away with minimum wage if you don’t like it don’t apply it’ll beat the dole. Can’t be bothered going in to the economics of running vehicles

Saw that advertised myself and mentioned to the missus who pointed out how much it cost to get my C then C+E then digi card then Level 4 then Level D then dCPC then ADR.
Then take into account possible fines, digi renewals, licence renewals, medicals, lack of ANY benefits in our industry, whereas she gets 100% sick pay for 6mths, 50% for a further 6mths, free gym and swim for family, voucher schemes etc etc etc.
That job is an absolute joke and insult, so, as you can gather, I didn’t apply for it. 
I’ve said before, actual hourly rate isn’t my 100% priority as it depends on the job, I’ve worked for a low hourly rate doing containers because it’s been an easy job, but when I’m on curtains or handballing I expect to get a decent rate, not the same or lower rate than I’d get in a warehouse without the responsibility of driving a truck around our streets that are filled with morons, idiots and suicidal maniacs.

You couldn’t get any less, it’s minimum wage for an adult in the UK 
I’d imagine that at £6.18 p/h you’d have to do at least 60 hours of actual paid time per week to even clear £300 p/w after tax and NI. Might be alright for a lad who’s just passed his test and still living at home and doing it for the experience but thats about it.

Totally agree that the wage is crap, but that’s the going rate these days. Total rubbish, but you’ve got the open boarders policy to thank. Whilst you have eastern europeans living on bunkbeds splitting your household bills 6 ways, this is the result. They’re happy working for it so we get stuck with it. I shall be doing so, again, however even UKIP don’t wear their pants outside their trousers, if we left the EU tomorrow it will take at least two generations to recover from the last 40 years of p’ing it up the wall.

The last 40 years of traitorous money grubbers plundering the nation cannot be recovered from overnight, it means going back and starting again and it means people knuckling down and working bloody hard to rebuild our manufacturing base from nothing, and that ain’t going to happen cos one 4 year term of real hard work and no benefits cushion/subsidy will see labour firmly returned.

The money saved on that and eu membership will pay off the deficit within weeks. There will be less strain on public services from a lower population. Over tax foreign trucks to the point they won’t come in, and hey presto, you have an export transport market and we can be more competitive bringing the loads in with no restrictions at dover while the eastern blockers sit there clearing customs. It’s a simple plan, but the best ones often are

UKIP are not the BNP or NF or Combat 18, they won’t be chucking people out willy nilly.
Forcing scroungers into the fields?, the results of that will make last years riots appear somewhat mild.
Any punitive import restrictions of whatever sort will be met with equal and worse by other countries, you have to remember the rest of Europe with one or two exceptions hate us with a vengeance, in a funny way good old Nigel Farrage hasn’t helped by telling the blighters exactly what they are, though good on him, i’m glad someone has the balls…

You wouldn’t have to chuck them out. If they need a work permit they can’t legally work. Remember there’s no benefits too, so what would you do, a thousand miles from home? Make your way back I reckon. And I don’t mean march people into the fields at gunpoint, what I mean is take away the benefits culture to make it worthwhile to do a nmw job. As for the customs, that’s not a problem. You only need to clear once to get into the eu, so you have an agreement not to hold any French trucks for days on end, and I don’t think they will hold up the brits. After all, it’s not the French that are doing basingstoke to Munich for £600 ferry included, I kid you not, that’s what a place there was saying to a UK haulier on the phone, edy spedition would do it for that price

Pffft! - No it won’t! Not if you’ve got kids and a wife that doesn’t have a well-paid job it don’t anyway!
Even if you’ve been working flat out so far this year, and now have the choice of Dole or this job, by sitting out for a few weeks while something else better comes long you’ll end up getting back all the tax already paid which is NOT a damned hand-out! Even if you end up signing on for 6 months, when you finally get that job you’ll pay no tax for the rest of the year for the same reasons!
Swallow some pride, and know when you’re better off. The only way you can make a £6.18ph job pay the bills (including getting to work!) is to aid and abet the employer in running bent, like doing an 84 hour week.

Market forces dictate the wages and at the moment there are drivers looking for work every day.
The only reason they dare advertise for such a low rate, is because they know some eastern euro will take the job…
