Another silly 'applying for jobs' question

Going for Class 1 jan/feb and it’s not soon enough but that’s life. Obviously when complete I will be available for work and here lies my question. I will be available to work away from home, I just need to be home every other weekend to see the kids. Now I’m wondering, could I apply for jobs ‘anywhere’ in the UK? For example, is it common for drivers to take the truck home with them or do they travel may miles to and from work in car?

Or

Is it best to keep it simple and apply for local work?

Generally speaking, I would like to know what is and is not possible.

If tramping then the norm is to travel to truck base prior to first shift and then back home after last shift

Often the O licence does not allow for the truck to be based away from yard such as your home

Ah OK. Then best to keep place of work within a manageable radius.
Thanks ROG

Sometimes using a cheap B&B works out financially for the night before and after the tramping week

Don’t know where in the country your from. But i believe s&k from wales might be a good 1st call to make. Now if you do a search on here you will find plenty of things about them. Some good and bad But unless you give it a go yourself to find out what they are like you won’t know.I’m sure i read on here that they allow you to take the truck home. They do alot of euro work to if thats what you want to do.Weeks away or a week or two also.Wich would fit in with you seeing your kids. i think they give newbies a chance also. And if you live a fair way from depot it does’nt seem to be a problem. So if and when you pass might be worth a call.Good luck.

Euro work is right up my street so worth a try, cheers Nozza :sunglasses:
