Thank God, they didn’t try to pull it by a helicopter. Here is what would happen:
So is it a blind ally or a cut through ? Doesn’t look like anything a loaded 8 wheeler couldn’t pull out .

Bit old school but can’t help feel a rusty chain and a tractor or heavy tipper couldn’t at least have a go at tuggin this out, combined with the stuck vehicles drive chances are jobs a good un…
Chances are H & S got involved and started contemplating tank ruptures etc and made a right meal of the job.

Just out of curiosity, something ive always wondered. How DO they get a stuck hgv from a situation like this?
This is one way.

Yeah with out of date maps. the road is probably hundreds of years old.

That is the normal rule of thumb,Seth, but not really in this case… I haven’t been down that lane for some years but it is bloody dodgy in a car!
Having driven down a steep, muddy and twisty hill to the bottom of the valley the driver (?) was presented with an even steeper and narrower climb up into the village… He was always going to come to an unfortunate end because if he had have made it up into the village outskirts, there is no way on this earth he would have got through the narrow bits and onto the High Street…
I wonder how far he got before he thought ‘Oh ■■■■■■■■’
Dan. It is used as a cut through but only by a very few brave local yokels, it IS that bad
For those that can remember , there is only one blindingly obvious solution…
FarnboroughBoy would have ■■■■■■ it
would it not be prudent for some hi viz cabbage to have a NO HGV sign erected at the start of the lane?..or does that thought mean im overqualified for a job in the council?

I think - I THINK - that there are ‘no motor vehicles’ signs at the A4 end of the lane but, as I said previously, its been a long time since I went through…
If I’m right, the only cabbage was the one who slept there for two days…
I don’t think there’s anything saying “No motor vehicles” - but there are signs saying “Colerne - Light vehicles Only” with signs clearly showing the alternative route to Colerne for HGVs. Yet another thick twunt using a car Satnav in a truck, at a guess.
Pretty sure there is a no motor vehicle sign as I’ve driven past it and remembered to note it down to go look at in my Landrover. Usually when that sign is there it means a nice bit of off-road/greenlaning.
There is one such sign at Hedgesparrow Lane, but if you access Tutton Hill from the village of Box (Mill Lane) the only signs you will see are “Single Track with Passing Places” (although it would be immediately obvious to anyone with half a brain cell that the lanes in question are not at all suited to an artic). I have done home patient deliveries around there in a 15T rigid, and thought even that was chancing it in some places

Anyone else snigger?

That said, there are a few roads like that in North Lincolnshire where I’m from, leading to tile and brick yards that see numerous artics day in, day out so its not always so obvious if you’ve delivered down such roads before to other places. I like to think of myself as being at least a fairly competent driver and I know that I’ve being in some tight situations before that could have turned out a whole lot worse than they did if such minor things such as a few inches less here or there had gone against me.

A little off topic but it ain’t anywhere near as unfortunate as poor old ■■■■ Spring …
its not being a Tanker that would be an issue
but the fact the vehicle is running under ADR regs

I’d say it’s more unfortunate.
My missus knows someone called Joanne Gash. Poor girl.
That’s not her maiden name either; she chose to accept it when she married Jason Gash.

She definately hasn’t thought of the children…
Some carefull naming of the younglings needed in the future I think.
