emwmarine:
I might have to go from Chelmsford to Poole, not today but on a Saturday.
My truck GPS is saying it is 4 ½ hours each way, which leaves it pretty close to do in 10 hours if there are any hold ups.
However, I don’t trust the GPS as it usually works it out longer than it takes if there is no traffic and if there is traffic it under estimates.
Assuming a fairly early start, any thoughts on how long it should take?
According to Google Maps it’s 159 miles via South Mimms (i.e. not over the Dartford bridge), which if there aren’t any major hold ups, comes to just over 3 1/4 hrs each way, and that’s at 50mph (most of the route is motorway though, but there are two long bits of dual carriageway - the A12 and A31 - and some single carriageway nearer the end).

What Truck Nav do you have ■■?
I be a little sceptical about the google timings to do that journey in 3hrs 15 mins you’d bee pushing to do that even on a good day, plus google maps is based on a car journey and traffic information updated hourly, the speed limits are set for a car journey not a HGV so whilst 3hrs 15mins might look impressive, can’t see you thundering down the 25 @ 70mph plus its gonna be a Saturday run so traffics going to be a lot more heavier that a usual day…and it depends on what time you leaving makes a big difference too…
I’d even say that 4hrs would be generous, so your Truck Nav saying 4hrs 30 mins is about right…
