Another newbie says hello

I saw you Dan, the Smiths driver infront is normally on an 8wheeler and was telling me how he managed to limp it back from Buckingham to Bletchington this morning before the clutch fell apart. That lorry he was driving might be in need of a driver in a few weeks; it’s normal driver is on trial as a planner and it seems certain he’s staying in that role…
Did you contact our lot? i know our TM hasn’t been in his office a lot this week, he was sorting out the paperwork after a granny near Buckingham tried to push one of our 8wheelers along yesterday

I wondered if you would realise it was me! I did indeed write to your lot, they should have had the letter by now. Any chance you could ask next time you are in for me? I really do need to get something full-time soon before I lose my flat.

I should be down head office on Thursday washing the wagon for a service so if TMs’ in I’ll see him. We’re using a lot of subbies at the mo I’ll ask some of them…

Thanks chap!

Had no work so far this week. Got a VAN driving job tomorrow, so will no doubt work all day and take home £30 at the end of the it.

I think I’m going to have to broaden my horizons guys, as much as I enjoy driving there is just no work out there right now, and its only going to get worse when the second dip of the recession comes (not that we ever got out of the first one). For the wages some agencies are paying I may as well go stack shelves in my local supermarket…sorry to be all doom and gloom but I’ve about had enough of chasing, chasing, chasing and getting absolutely nowhere with it.

Have you been on Sheehans’ website? They’ve an online job application, says they want LGV2 drivers, shovel ops etc. (I started out machine driving there) They’re expanding heir recycling arm with a muck washing plant.

Yes I sent in an application some weeks ago, never heard back from them.

I did the same, didn’t hear nowt and went on as an apprentice with HE services…what a shower of ■■■■ they were. I was gone as soon as Sheehans sent me a form. Have you tried ringing them? Chris or Richard Sheehan are the ones to ask for.

Well this is interesting. Agency rang up with a load of work for this coming week, and I have a driving assessment with a local firm this afternoon as well. Wish me luck?

Definitely! Pete

It may be tomorrow, depends if they have a truck free when I am back home after my job in the morning…

Who’s it for? Our TM wasn’t around today, I’ve heard it’s likely that a new 6w driver will be needed soon; No I’m not going to Stobarts, one of the others is now a (very optimistic) planner…some drivers still haven’t finished todays’ work yet they’ve been given a busy schedule for tomorrow. It’s amazing how people suddenly forget what is was like to be a driver. :unamused:

You have a PM Nathan.

Hopefully I am not working Tuesday so will have opportunity to enquire…!

Today I became an icy road trucker…heheheh.

I had a driving assessment with a local firm today, I think it went well, just into town and back really. Was a bit nerve-racking but who knows, I may be the lucky one! I will know within the next couple of days anyway.

If you hate being at home before 7pm and enjoy being told how many revs and how much sudden braking you do is your thing, try Smiths Concrete

I saw one of their mixers today in Northampton (or Bicester, not sure) was considering writing to them but don’t think I’ll bother now… :stuck_out_tongue:
