Another lorry goes over on the Humber Bridge

m.hulldailymail.co.uk/LIVE-Lorry … story.html

Fair enough it’s only a puddle jumper, but considering the bridge was closed to high siders, what were all them lorries doing in the photo?

I was traveling up the A15 from Lincoln and as you get to the M180 roundabout there was the flashing yellow sign saying the bridge was closed and this was at 2pm or just after.

The other lorries appear to be flat beds rather than high-sided.

Proves what a waste of time tying your curtains back is.

It was closed well before the incident, and he did not have his curtains back as I was on the A63 approaching the bridge… Couldn’t help but have a chuckle!! I’m sure it said Minster on the curtain which is a local firm, so he should of known better!

The wagons I saw behind was tippers I believe.

They look like they are tied back to me?

Looking at the video they definitely weren’t tied back prior to going over. The recovery boys probably did that to make sure it stayed on its wheels once they’d done their stuff.

just watched it…driver just seemed to carry on regardless of the imminent disaster :frowning:

Was 100% closed, I’m guessing the drivers behind tied them back to stop it from going further. Saw a few wagon drivers running to his rescue, well am guessing they was as they had hi viz vests on!

Missed the part when he went over. Silly woman, can’t hold a camera phone straight. Still, he’s a nutter for trying it.

Just watched the video and it explains the odd damage to the cab. But being pedantic here it didn’t actually go over

Driver is a complete bellend to even go on the bridge, he had 2 massive warnings that was about to go over and just carried on. If there was tippers behind him he should have went into lane 2 and waited for one of them to shield him.

Don’t know about the Humber but tippers are allowed on the forth road bridge during high winds.

They was a tipper behind and behind that possibly a tipper/walking floor… I was heading into Hull and it looked like it was leaning on the near side barrier so I don’t know if the wind had caught it after the video ended?? It looked asif people was running along the pathway to open his n/s door…

No, tippers aren’t permitted when the high sided vehicle restrictions are in force on the Forth Road Bridge.

Then they’ve changed their rules because the very same website was quoted on here maybe a year or two ago that tippers where permitted in high winds.

Merc is right you used to beable to go over with a tipper on i have done it with no hassel before.

I remember one of my neighbours telling me that when he was on curtainsiders it was a sackable offence to travel with the curtains tied back because of possible roof damage, then again I guess that he shouldn’t have been on the bridge in the first place. At what height does a truck actually become defined as ‘high sided’ anyway as some bulkers are quite high?

Pete.

Ok question what is a high sided vehicle. Not a guess but in law. Just curious.
