Another lesson over

Well that’s my second driving lesson over and done with (and one planned for next Monday again   ) So my instructors prediction of finding out if I got ahead of myself this lesson…No I didn’t in fact he agreed I had made less mistakes and that I’m picking things up rather fast!..Finally found something I’m good at

So first I’ll start off with the ■■■■ ups I made, in fact I don’t think I made that many :open_mouth: I crunched the gearbox a little bit trying to get reverse but that was my fault not putting the clutch all the way down and pulling upto kerbs need to be worked on a little bit because of the positioning sometimes being a little off. Also learning to brake first a little bit when changing down gear so I don’t go go into it too fast etc but apart from that I think that’s it!

I’ve cracked changing gears at least (Well first and second as Paul wanted to get basic junctions out of the way so things click into place…seems easy enough ) and setting off was very smooth today not a bumpy start in sight! We even managed a couple of hill starts and both times I didn’t roll back so either it was pure luck or I could actually do it  Also manouvering around parked cars (And other learner drivers :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: ) Although when a car was to come out of a car park Paul said it was our right of way but I let her out anyway I suppose I’m curtious like that  Although Paul put that down to being hesitant which I would have said was a little true but there was nothing behind me so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to let her out.

Junctions I’ve found pretty easy not too difficult to get around although I have forgotton a couple times it’s mirrors then signals but I only did that a couple times. I suppose it’s just a habit I need to get into! But it seems everything is falling into place nicely  And next lesson Paul said i’ll be driving from my house this time instead of him picking me up to take me somewhere to learn stuff like the basic moving off etc. And that we’ll be going into Womersley around the country roads to do the gear changes etc so that should be fun. Again todays lesson seemed to not last 10 minutes! But I’m still enjoying it a little too much although I do have that urge to just get onto the motorway and drive for miles on end! Maybe I’m sad like that  But I’m not wanting to get ahead of myself or run before I can walk

But I can see myself being just as good a driver as my ol man! Seems to be something that comes naturally to me (On the most part :grimacing: ) My instructor is probably the best teacher I’ve had, always polite and relaxed and if you make a mistake he doesn’t bite your head off but he does give constructive criticism and has you do it again to get it right which I think is a good way of teaching. And I didn’t stall it once either as well as not kissing/mounting any kerbs

Bring on next week I say! Can’t wait! :grimacing: :grimacing:

Cheers

Well done johnny , you have the bug I see , driving for me is the same i love the long drive with just the radio and myself an open road that when you start driving will soon find out dont happen too often  roadworks traffic etc but an empty country road sun shining is the bees knees
and nothing wrong with being courteous but in a test situation your gonna get marked down for being hesitant so leave that for when you have your test cert
good luck for the next lesson

I kinda knew I had the bug from my first lesson but I suppose with time it’ll just get ‘worse’ And I know only too well about not having a clear road too often but it’s nice when you eventually have it! But it just doesn’t feel the same when someone else is in the driving seat  But I think the wait will be worth it in the end

But it’s them words from the driving instructor that make it worth while, being told that you’re progressing rather fast and that in theory if I pick things up like this I won’t have to be stuck on the basics like some learners would in their first lessons. Definitely say I get my driving genes from my dad (Although I hope I don’t pick up his bad habits ie complaining of other drivers ‘mistakes’ )

And I suppose I think that’s what Paul was trying to say to me but I suppose it’s one of them things you learn in time  I think my instructor was quite surprised at the fact I made less mistakes than the last lesson as he said it’s usually the second lesson where students make the most mistakes because they get too cocky/confident but I suppose I got a little more confident but not enough to have me think I’m the best driver in the world

Already I can’t wait for my next lesson though even better that it will be me driving from the house this time so less time wasted driving too and from locations  Also with payday being this week that’s 2 things to look forward too  :grimacing:

Cheers
