over the limit so no contest there, but nobody will know if the drivers actual ability was greatly impaired or otherwise,or if it was the cause of the actual collision other than the usual bubble of invincibility that most london cyclists seem to operate in with all other road users being obliged to assume they have priority over all nomatter what the highway code says, but a 73 year old riding a pushbike in central london is surely no more than a mobile organ donor looking for a quick way out.
anyone having the misfortune to drive a hgv there knows the standard of your normal cyclists never mind some geriatric who must have even slower reactions than the young brigade by age alone.
as usual the titter fannys give the same predictable replies.

I remember watching a documentary on crack epidemic in the USA. One of the addicts interviewed was a former - I think - truck driver. He said other truckers got him into it as it was helping them do longer hours and they needed the hours to pay their mortgages and support their families etc.

since the beginning of time then the yanks used west coast turnaround pills to keep them going
even the 1 hitter milan type runs weve done years ago didnt need drugs to keep going.
the normal day men type drivers with drugs in them are just junkies to varying degrees apart from the ones caught early monday morning sane as the bevvy merchants binging over the weekends.
if your doing long distance and you need to take drugs to keep you awake, then when you want to sleep you cant,so you need to take different ones to make you sleep.
thereafter you cant wake up,so you need more drugs to perk you up again.,and so on.
its always best just to drive till you drop naturally.

I think he was eluding to the fact that he was also doing more hours than allowed, like way more. Guy I met a few years back had been there for 7+ years and said they still had paper logs so you could do ridiculous hours if you wanted to. When I asked him why he won’t drive here he said the money is crap because you can’t doctor your hours and you won’t be making much more than in the warehouse (where I met him). I didn’t believe him at the time, lol. I know people working in the warehouse of a ‘national online supermarket’ who are on 20p less than me but their OT rates are higher.

Wait for it. HM Government/Vosa/Dft/Brake/Green Party reason for having driverless trucks.

Until the operator of the platoon is found to be a cocaine addict…

.

There we have it. Every time this HGV driver drives near a pensioner on a bike in London he thinks they want to kill themselves.

if they had any thought about not killing themselves then they wouldnt be charging around london on a bike.
the sad thing about it is when one of these mongs get creamed by a truck, then its up to the driver to shift the blame that always heads his way first.
retatds, oblivious idiots, self centered whale kissing tree huggers and helmet cam youtube mankini wearing mangina warriors.
the one thing they have in common is being darwin award winners and mobile organ donors.
one of my unfulfilled dreams as yet to come true would be to see grotty thunderbags on a mission to cycle her organic free range bike across london only to be creamed by a tipper.

most of us hope to get into our later years and still be fit enough to get about, many on bikes, should that mean we are all ok to be killed by anyone who is under the influence of drink or drugs, is this the new euthanasia of the olds, not all long distance drivers take or have taken drugs or driven after drinking, every night in our local paper the court reports of the day show an incredible increase in drug drivers, at all times of the day, quite a lot are women on the school run, we do not need to wait for them to create havoc by crashing we can and should name and shame them before it comes to that, and I would.
