Another one of ours been done on A17 around Holbeach last night Apparently 23 been done on that road since Monday as they have all been going to the garage at A17/A52 roundabout.
It’s only Thursday FFS aren’t the police onto this yet, or are they going to give them a bit longer to rob a few more.
I’m parked in Peterborough which is renowned for it. Don’t think they’ll get much joy with me though!
I had a clever plan to stop any attempted fuel theft last night…
I parked hard up against a wall, at wee wee time I realised my mistake
Its a joke by the way…honest
(though It did run through my mind)
What annoys me is that everyone knows the A17 and A1 are fuel theft hotspots but still they park there. When they have diesel nicked they moan that coppers don’t do anything, but realistically there’s not enough cops to cover every mile of these roads.
I use both routes fairly frequently, more so the A1, but I will not park on the side of the road on either. There are plenty of alternatives to laybys, such as ind ests, small independent cafes etc. if you value your diesel that much then at least make an effort to protect it.
Matt.

when i started driving distance loads 23 years ago i was warned by the other drivers on the firm not too park on the a1 south of ferrybridge and along the a17 and a47 with full tanks of fuel as they wont be full when you wake up. it’s not difficult nowadays too plan your route and where you can get fuel so you can run the tank low and park up with the knowledge that if they do target you then they aint gonna get much.
Couldn’t an unwanted sacrificial Jerry can be carried on the back of the truck, this could get nicked rather than anything else being damaged.
Obviously fill the can with dyed water

Things like this make me smile and remind me of the story of the fuel thief who targeted a large camper van and mistook the efluant tank as the fuel tank. owners just found the pipe and a pile of sick lol

my old man had a smack and kept a couple of 5 gallon drums of (red) diesel under the side deck , he went down to the harbour one day to pump it out and noticed they had gone . he filled 2 more with 4 gallon of water with a gallon of fuel on top and sure enough they went shortly after. never lost any more though
