Another fuel story ...to cheer you up!

whilst we in the UK suffer ever increasing in fuel duty, spare a thought for drivers in Goa,India.
Their gov’t is redcuing the taxation by 11rupees a litre!
petrol their works out at about 95 pence a litre,
11 rps equals around 13 pence, so not a bad reduction…made to offer their citizens some help in the difficult economic climate.

now the good bit
WE pay India loads of dosh in support!!!
So, when you next fill up, think of all the Goans who will be benefiting from your generosity!

Enjoy!

:open_mouth:

How much is the average workers’ wage in Goa.So we won’t be exporting many Jags there then. :smiling_imp:

Just like here 1960’s America it ain’t.

Another piece of evidence how our countries generosity to others, completely shafts its own subjects :unamused:

average wage is abysmal by our standards… but so is car ownership.
If you own a car you are fairly well heeled so won’t be on the average wage

No we won’t be exporting many Jags there although they own the company.

Taxi drivers charge 70 rupees/hr for waiting so a litre of fuel is more than an hours wage, not quite there in the UK yet.

We were in Zante last year for a cheeky little 2 weeks in the sun and petrol out there was 1.79 euros/litre

Why do we give aid to india when they have a massive economy of their own?

To bribe them into keeping Port Talbot steelworks/Jaguar cars/Land-Rover open. Even the massive amount of aid we send then doesn’t come anywhere near to what it would cost the country if all of these moved abroad.

Why do we give aid to india when they have a massive economy of their own?

because they go to tea with D Cameron and contribute to the Tory party perhaps?
Ask your MP! Thats what he’s there for.

India can afford nuclear weapons, have a space programme, the 4th largest air force in the world but still need our help to look after their poor.
the same applies to Pakistan in terms of UK handouts, not counting the amount of money sent home by Pakistanis living here. they too can afford nuclear weapons and a space programme.
Do we still have a space programme?

Would that be the reason we donated aid to India when Labour was in power?

Stan

Fair comment Stan, regular posters will know that I hold no particular brief for the labour party.
the comment re tea with the PM was meant to be a light hearted dig at the current revelations,
perhaps I should have put a smiley on the end to make it clear.
doesn’t alter the question though, why are we giving all this aid (which we can no longer afford) to countries that have the finance to enable expenditure such as that mentioned.
Supporting starving kids in genuine 3rd world countries I can understand.

Nothing has or will ever change. Whilst we were giving money to Ethiopia in the band-aid days, it’s own government was busy quadrupling the landing charges to unload the aid we sent. It’s own ships were sailing towards home ports with the vast majority of its cargo space taken up with the only two things the rich give a ■■■■ about over there, Colour TV’s and whiskey! As for not many Jags going to India, it’s only because they prefer Mercs. There are probably more people who could afford them there than here, it’s just the massive difference between the two ends of the scale that counts and the top end there cares not one jot about the bottom end.

And if you read the News a couple of weeks ago you would of seen India saying they no longer wanted UK Aid, as they didn’t need it, yet the idiots in the Government forced them to accept it saying it had been put aside for them and would look bad if it was not accepted.

India had suggested the £60 Million would be better spent elsewhere suggesting the Sudan but the British Government would not have any of it, it was on the BBC News website so make of it what you want.
