Another digi-card question

Overspeed …

Came up once going downhill so been slowing down lately . However other drivers at the tip who go past me every day said overspeed on the card is not enforceable and I shouldn’t worry about slowing down . Is this correct ? as compared to the others I am driving like a vicar .

Yes and no…

The overspeed is triggered at limiter +2kmh, so if you’re limited to 80kmh, then it’ll trigger at a sustained 82kmh, which is well under the speed limit, so you’re not actually breaking the law.

BUT, if there’s regular occurances, they might look to see if the limiter is defective / tampered with and there’s rumours (but I don’t believe them) that drivers have been done for bypassing safety equipment or something along those lines.

I’ve had a few over the years, but I’m a slow driver and still get the odd 1, never worried about them and they’ve never been mentioned.

Personally I ignore them & I consider the warning as dangerous as you have to take your eyes off the road for a few seconds to cancel the bl**dy things - a single button press never seems to work & as I drive nights the flashing tacho is a pain in the proverbial…

Just press ok twice and all will be fine.

I love those drivers who hit the brakes as soon as it gets to 57 downhill, makes it so much easier to nip past them while they are needlessly worrying about overspeeds.

All you need to know is the speed limit…What is the speed limit on a motorway?

Don’t worry about it chap.

From what I was told… VOSA aren’t worried if the weight pushed you over for a small period of time downhill.

What they are looking for is a long period of overspeed… Then they ask how long you were pulling for Norfolk line…
