Have you checked the SWR of the antenna? Are they getting a signal but no audio? Is the TX light illuminating when you key up?

Is the antenna plugged in at both ends? (Radio end and antenna stub end)

Might seem a stupid question, but you’d be surprised at the number of people who have forgot to plug the antenna cable into the radio.

Ken.

Are other people seeing your carrier (Their “S” meter showing a signal but no audio) , if so look at the mike cable to see if there is a wire come off either in the back of the mike or in the plug that connects to the radio.
Is the other person’s S meter showing an end stop reading (Should be at 70 yards/metres) ? If not get an SWR meter and check your antenna system out ( Several radios back the power off if there is an aerial mismatch) . If you cannot sort out the problem with these steps then the radio needs taking in for a check over by someone who knows what they are doing

is it a radio with too many controls
for the average ‘dummy’ to operate
does it have a mic gain if so is it wound to the right

like all mechanical / electrical problems
start at the beginning and work thru systematically

dummy = appliance operator
from the Big Dummies guide to mmm well everything now
but in late 70’s early 80’s it was CB

Id say do teh easiest thing and try another mic… Seems to me obviously thats where the problem lies if its showing up on your mates CB that your keying out but no sound.
